Palumbo (thumb) was placed on the 7-day injured list Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Since Palumbo was up as the 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader, he'll be sent to the MiLB injured list. He'll be eligible to return beginning Aug. 27, though it's unclear at this time if he'll be ready to go by then.

Burke was recalled from Triple-A Nashville prior to Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels.

As expected, Burke will be promoted to the majors to start the nightcap. He's set to make his major-league debut after posting a 7.88 ERA and 2.25 WHIP with 11 punchouts over eight innings at Triple-A.

Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Alexander was sent back to the minors following Friday's matchup, but since he's replacing Matthew Boyd (paternity), he won't need to wait 10 days before rejoining the big-league club. The lefty has accrued a 6.59 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with a 24:4 K:BB over 27.1 innings this season in the majors.

Palumbo was removed from Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels due to a blister on his left thumb.

Palumbo was lifted in the second inning after surrendering three runs, and the trainer looked to be examining the thumb on his pitching hand. He'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.

Hildenberger (arm) was activated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Hildenberger was placed on the MiLB injured list in mid-June due to a right flexor mass strain, but after finishing up a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League, he'll return to Triple-A Rochester, where he's posted an 8.44 ERA and 1.96 WHIP with nine strikeouts over 10.2 innings this season.

Puk's contract was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Tuesday's game against New York.

As expected, Puk will join the major-league club ahead of Tuesday's matchup. Though the team views the southpaw as a starter long term, he'll be used out of the bullpen during his time in the big leagues this season, as Oakland aims to limit his innings following Tommy John surgery in April of 2018.

Lakins was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

After logging four innings over the last four days, he gets sent to Triple-A in favor of a fresh arm (Josh Smith). Lakins will likely rejoin the big-league bullpen in September.

Palumbo was added to the roster as the 26th man ahead of his start in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels.

The fact that Palumbo is up as the 26th man suggests he will head back down after the twin bill, with fellow rookie Brock Burke possibly sticking in the rotation. Palumbo is the Rangers' best pitching prospect, but he has made starts in the majors this season out of necessity (he's on the 40-man roster), not necessarily because it is ideal for his development. He has a 2.67 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in six starts (27 innings) at Triple-A.

Barria was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake ahead of his scheduled start in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Rangers.

Barria will assume the rotation spot of Jose Suarez, who was demoted to Salt Lake following a rough outing against the White Sox over the weekend. After the doubleheader, the Angels' schedule would allow the team to get by without a fifth starter until Sept. 7, so Barria won't be assured any further turns through the rotation. After a strong rookie campaign in 2018, Barria has struggled at the big-league level this season, posting a 6.62 ERA across 51.2 innings in 12 outings (seven starts).

Johnson will rejoin the rotation to start Tuesday against the Phillies, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

A slew of upcoming team off days plus the pending return of David Price (wrist) put Johnson at risk of moving to the bullpen if the Red Sox elected to get by with a four-man rotation, but Chris Sale's season-ending elbow injury will allow Johnson to stick around in a starting role. The lefty has exceeded 80 pitches just once in his five starts with the big club this season, but Boston may be forced to loosen its workload restrictions with him now that the ace of staff is on the shelf. While matching up against a star-studded Phillies offense, Johnson won't make for a comfortable streaming option after posting a 6.45 ERA and 2.01 WHIP across 22.1 innings at the big-league level this season.
