Adams (2-2) was credited with the victory in a win over the White Sox on Sunday, firing a perfect ninth inning during which he struck out the side.

The 28-year-old put a recent three-appearance rough patch behind him in impressive fashion with Sunday's showing. Adams had given up a total of four earned runs across the 3.2 frames that encompassed his three previous trips to the mound, resulting in both his second loss and blown save of the season. Adams now has a trio of multi-strikeout outings over his last six outings, pushing his K/9 on the season to an eye-popping 15.3 across 30.2 innings with the Nationals and Mariners.

The Tigers claimed Diplan off waivers from the Twins on Monday.

Diplan will move on to his third organization of the season after being traded from the Brewers to the Twins in July before Minnesota designated him for assignment earlier this month. The 22-year-old hasn't pitched above the Double-A level and turned in an underwhelming 4.85 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 68.2 innings in 2019, but the rebuilding Tigers don't have much to lose by taking a chance on a hard-throwing righty with some upside.

Palumbo tossed two shutout innings in relief Sunday in the Rangers' 6-1 loss to the Athletics, working around two walks and no hits and striking out four.

In his first outing with the Rangers since Aug. 20, Palumbo piggybacked starter Jonathan Hernandez, who was pulled after covering the first 2.2 innings. The 24-year-old lefty excelled in his two-inning stint out of the bullpen and could get a permanent look in the Texas rotation in 2020, but the Rangers are likely to monitor his usage carefully over the final two weeks of the current campaign.

The Orioles appear to have shifted Blach to a bullpen role following his Sept. 10 start versus the Dodgers, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

After returning from Triple-A Norfolk at the beginning of the month, Blach made two turns through the rotation, logging 7.1 innings between the outings and giving up eight earned runs on 11 hits and five walks. The Orioles inserted Gabriel Ynoa into the rotation over the weekend in Detroit and don't include Blach among their probable starters for the next four contests, essentially signaling that the soft-tossing lefty will work in relief moving forward.

Betances struck out both batters he faced in Sunday's tilt with the Blue Jays.

Betances, making his season debut after a lengthy recovery from shoulder and lat injuries, came on in the fourth inning and made quick work of Toronto, needing a mere eight pitches to strike out Reese McGuire and Brandon Drury. The 31-year-old figures to be eased back into action as he hurled only three rehab innings prior to joining the Yankees. Betances' primary focus is reestablishing his velocity; his fastball topped out at 95 mph Sunday, a significant downturn from the triple-digits he was hitting last season.

Yarbrough (11-4) allowed six runs on 10 hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out three batters and taking the loss against the Angels.

After allowing three runs in the first two innings, Yarbrough had started to settle in before Albert Pujols crushed him with a three-run shot in the fifth. It was his first loss since June 13, which was also the last time he faced the Angels. He'll carry a 3.78 ERA into Sunday's home start against the Red Sox.

Junis (9-14) allowed five earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks across just 2.2 innings of work as he took the loss to the Astros on Sunday.

Junis has had a rough stretch over his last five starts, allowing at least four earned runs all of them. He was at least able to go somewhat deep in the other outings, but Sunday night he got yanked early as the Astros were hitting the ball all over the park. After the game, manager Ned Yost said he will decide sometime this week if Sunday's start was Junis' last of the year, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports. Yost said in Flanagan's tweet that "innings might be piling up" for Junis, which could explain his recent struggles. If Junis does make his next start, he will have another tough test against the high-powered offense of the Twins on Friday.

Robles walked one batter over 1.1 scoreless frames Sunday, striking out two batters and earning the save over the Rays.

After issuing a leadoff walk to Joey Wendle to start the ninth inning, Robles retired the final three batters to earn his 21st save. The 29-year-old is riding a 14-inning scoreless streak, lowering his season ERA to 2.36.

Hernandez (1-1) gave up three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four through 2.2 innings to take the loss against the Athletics on Sunday.

Serving as the opener, Hernandez delivered two scoreless innings before allowing three baserunners and a two-run home run in the third frame. The 23-year-old has a 3.75 ERA with a 12:9 K:BB through six appearances this season.

Manaea (2-0) gave up three hits and one walk while striking out six through six scoreless innings to take the win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Manaea had 11 swinging strikes and 19 called strikes in another electric performance to earn his second win. The 27-year-old has been great since being activated with a 0.50 ERA and a 21:6 K:BB through three starts this season. Manaea is scheduled to make his next start Sunday at home against the Rangers.
