Weems has been added to the roster for the ALDS against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Athletics altered their roster construction slightly ahead of the series, adding a reliever in Weems while removing reserve infielder Vimael Machin, who did not make an appearance during the AL Wild Card Round. Weems isn't one of Oakland's higher-leverage options, though he did look good in his 14-inning debut this season, posting a 3.21 ERA and a 31.0 percent strikeout rate.

Hendriks allowed one hit and struck out three without walking a batter in a scoreless ninth inning Thursday to convert the save during a Game 3 win over the White Sox.

The 31-year-old labored during Game 2 and needed 49 pitches to record five outs while surrendering two runs, yet he still managed to come back a day later to secure the series-clinching win for Oakland. Hendriks clearly remains manager Bob Melvin's most trusted bullpen arm after posting a 1.78 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 37:3 K:BB over 25.1 innings this season.

Clase (suspension) was reinstated from the restricted list Thursday.

Clase was handed an 80-game suspension in May after testing positive for the PED Boldenone. The suspension was revised to cover the entirety of the 60-game season, and he'll be available for spring training and the 2021 season after serving the ban. The 22-year-old figures to slot into a fairly high-leverage role with Cleveland next season after recording one save and four holds while posting a 2.31 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 23.1 innings with the Rangers in 2019.

Crochet was removed from Thursday's game against the Athletics with left forearm tightness.

Crochet is still being evaluated to determine the severity of the injury, but his status for the remainder of the postseason could certainly be in question if the White Sox advance. The 21-year-old was dominant during his first action at the professional level in the regular season as he tossed six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out eight. His average fastball velocity was 100.2 mph during the season, but his velocity was down during his appearance in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series prior to his removal.

Crochet left Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Athletics on Thursday with an apparent injury, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Crochet came into Thursday's contest with two outs in the first inning. His velocity was down during his time on the mound, and he was removed from the game with one out in the second inning after throwing just nine pitches. It's unclear what issue Crochet could be dealing with, and it remains to be seen whether he'll be available for the remainder of the postseason if the White Sox win Thursday's decisive Game 3.

Giles underwent successful Tommy John surgery Thursday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Giles battled elbow issues throughout the year and eventually had to undergo surgery. If his recovery is on the fast end of the typical window, he could theoretically return very late in the 2021 campaign, but the most likely scenario is that he doesn't pitch again until 2022.

Hendriks gave up two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five in 1.2 innings Wednesday against the White Sox.

Manager Bob Melvin wanted Hendriks to get the final six outs of this pivotal Game 2, but he wasn't up to the task. He came in with a 5-1 lead and threw a season-high 49 pitches before Jake Diekman came on to get the final out. Thursday's Game 3 is a deciding game, but even so, Hendriks is probably unavailable after Wednesday's usage.

Chapman threw the final two innings of the Yankees' win Wednesday in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against Cleveland, striking out four while allowing just one hit and zero runs.

Chapman hadn't been asked to record more than three outs in any of his 13 regular-season appearances, but he was called upon with men on first and second and none out in a tie game in the bottom of the eighth this time around. He immediately relinquished the lead, allowing an RBI single to Cesar Hernandez on his very first pitch, but a strikeout and a double play got him out of the inning without further damage. After the Yankees scored a pair of runs to take the lead in the top of the ninth, he finished the job and the series in the bottom of the inning, recording one groundout and three strikeouts (with one batter reaching first on a passed ball). He'll gets a rest now, as Game 1 of the ALDS against the Rays won't take place until Monday.

Hand gave up two earned runs on three hits and one walk while recording just two outs Wednesday, taking the blown save and the loss in the deciding game of the AL Wild Card Series against the Yankees.

A clean ninth inning would have forced a Game 3, but Hand got into trouble right away, giving up a walk to Giancarlo Stanton followed by singles to Gio Urshela and Gleyber Torres. He then struck out Brett Gardner before allowing a sacrifice fly to Gary Sanchez that tied the game. DJ LeMahieu then singled home the winning run. Cleveland has a $10 million team option for 2021 or it can buy Hand out for $1 million.

Phillips (elbow) cleared waivers Wednesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Evans missed the end of the season with elbow inflammation. Even if he were fully healthy, however, it would have hardly been a surprise to see him pass through waivers unclaimed, as he owns a career 7.50 ERA in 54 big-league innings.
