Luetge earned the save against the Red Sox on Wednesday by retiring the only batter he faced.

Aroldis Chapman started the ninth inning with the Yankees holding a four-run lead, but the team turned to Luetge after the veteran closer gave up a homer along with two additional baserunners. Luetge battled Kevin Plawecki for nine pitches before inducing a groundout to end the game. The save was Luetge's first since his rookie 2012 campaign. Per Max Goodman of SI.com, the left-hander went 3,284 days between saves.

Colome had his fifth blown save chance in Wednesday's win over Cleveland. He gave up two runs on two hits and a walk after taking a lead into the ninth inning. The Twins would later win in extra innings.

Colome had been on a nice run with five saves and a win over 8.1 scoreless innings before this outing. He'll likely remain in the closer role despite this setback with the Twins having few proven options to close games with Taylor Rogers (finger) still sidelined.

Yarbrough (7-4) picked up the win Wednesday in the Rays' 8-4 win over the Orioles after tossing five scoreless frames and permitting one hit and no walks while striking out three.

Making his return from the COVID-19 injured list, Yarbrough worked as a primary pitcher out of the bullpen behind Louis Head, and the arrangement proved to be favorable. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Yarbrough said prior to being activated that he didn't feel 100 percent after he contracted the virus despite being vaccinated, but that didn't prevent the southpaw from excelling in his first game back. Yarbrough tossed 70 pitches Wednesday and should be able to push his count closer to the 80-to-90 range in his next outing, regardless of whether he's deployed as a traditional starter or bulk reliever.

Fairbanks (shoulder) will throw live batting practice in Port Charlotte on Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Fairbanks threw a 24-pitch bullpen session Monday and will now face live hitters for the first time since he was placed on the injured list in late July. Manager Kevin Cash said the right-hander will likely report to Triple-A Durham for a rehab assignment if Thursday's throwing session goes well.

Iglesias earned the save over Detroit on Wednesday, pitching a perfect inning during which he struck out two batters.

The right-hander entered in the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead and did so with ease, throwing seven of 10 pitches for strikes and collecting a pair of punchouts. Iglesias has successfully converted each of his past six save chances, yielding only one earned run across 8.1 innings over that span. He is tied for third in the league with 27 saves on the season.

Pivetta (9-6) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one over 1.2 innings to take the loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

This was Pivetta's shortest outing in a Boston uniform, but he did not get much help from his defense in a four-run second inning. J.D. Martinez, starting in right field, could not up with a fly ball, and Bobby Dalbec had a grounder deflect off his glove at first base. Pivetta had two consecutive strong efforts before his rude introduction to the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry. The right-hander looks to get back on track in his next start, expected to be Wednesday at home against Minnesota.

King (shoulder) experienced renewed soreness following his second rehab appearance Aug. 13 at Triple-A Round Rock, but he's expected to return from the 10-day injured list before the Rangers' upcoming homestand concludes Sept. 1, MLB.com reports.

Texas had been hopeful that King would be ready to return from the IL on Tuesday, but the setback during the rehab assignment derailed those plans. Ideally, King will make at least one more appearance in the minors with no renewed discomfort before reclaiming a spot in the Texas bullpen.

Scrubb (shoulder) threw 20 pitches off a mound Tuesday.

Scrubb has been on the injured list, first the 10-day then the 60-day, since July 17. After Houston upgraded its bullpen at the trade deadline, the team is not counting on Scrubb to be anything more than a low-leverage option when he returns.

Hendriks struck out three over 1.2 scoreless and hitless innings to pick up the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over Oakland. The save was his 28th of the season.

After a rough two-game stretch against the Yankees last week, Hendriks closed the door on the Athletics for the second straight appearance. The closer told Scott Merkin of MLB.com that, through the unlikely help of his wife, he noticed he was tipping pitches. Following his wife's suggestion, Hendriks studied video and noticed a tell, which led to an adjustment. He's struck out six without giving up a hit over 2.2 innings since.

Tapia (1-0) retired the only batter he faced to earn the win Wednesday versus Houston.

The right-hander needed only four pitches to induce a fielder's choice off the bat of Jose Altuve to end the seventh inning. Tapia became the pitcher of record when Hunter Dozier restored Kansas City's lead in the home half of the frame. Through 13.1 innings between the Royals and the Mariners, Tapia has a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB. He's become a fairly reliable low-leverage option for manager Mike Matheny.
