Heasley is slated to make his next turn through the Kansas City rotation Saturday in Detroit, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

The rookie right-hander will get a chance to redeem himself after he underwhelmed in his MLB debut last weekend against the Mariners. Heasley covered four innings in that start, giving up four runs on six hits and no walks while striking out two. He showcased some strikeout upside (27.7 K%) at Double-A Northwest Arkansas prior to his call-up, though the long ball was an issue (1.5 HR/9).

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Garcia (undisclosed) on its 7-day injured list Wednesday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.

No details are available regarding the nature of Garcia's injury, but he'll most likely be sidelined for the rest of the Triple-A club's season, which ends Sept. 30. After a promising six-start sample with the Yankees in 2020, Garcia was expected to vie for a rotation spot with the big club this season, but he ended up losing out to Domingo German in a spring training competition for the fifth starter's role. The 22-year-old righty then failed to perform well enough to merit an extended look in the big leagues, as he compiled a 6.83 ERA and 1.89 WHIP across 89.2 innings with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Hernandez and the Royals won't play Wednesday after their game against Cleveland was postponed due to inclement weather.

The two teams will make up the contest on a mutual off day next Monday. The Royals will most likely push all their starters back a day in the schedule as a result of the rainout, so Hernandez's next turn will presumably come Friday in Detroit.

Valdez (2-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk with one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning, taking the extra-inning loss versus Philadelphia on Tuesday.

The right-hander had a chance to pick up his first save since May 10 when he entered Tuesday's game. Instead, an intentional walk to Bryce Harper and a two-run triple from J.T. Realmuto handed Valdez a loss and a blown save in his first major-league appearance in over a month. He has a 5.87 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 45:14 K:BB through 46 innings, and he's expected to fill more of a low-leverage role for the rest of the season.

Lopez and the White Sox won't play Wednesday against the Tigers after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Wednesday's contest will be made up Monday. The White Sox haven't yet revealed their updated rotation plans, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Lopez pitch in one of the team's games against Cleveland this weekend.

Hendriks struck out two over a scoreless ninth inning in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Tigers.

Hendriks had not pitched in five days and needed the work, which explains why he would be pitching in a non-save situation. A save opportunity has not presented itself since Sept. 10, leaving Hendriks to make three consecutive outings with the game not on the line.

Naughton (0-3) allowed four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one across four innings, taking the loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

Naughton surrendered back-to-back home runs to Kyle Tucker and Aledmys Diaz in the second inning, and he has now lost in three of his four starts. The 25-year-old has a 5.23 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 20.2 innings this season. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday in Texas.

Jax didn't factor in the decision against the Cubs on Tuesday, pitching three innings and allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six.

The right-handed rookie gave up one run in each of the three innings in which he pitched, with the final two tallies coming by way of the long ball. Though it wasn't a very efficient outing -- Jax needed 72 pitches to retire nine batters -- he did flash some solid strikeout stuff, as his six punchouts were his most since he fanned 10 on Aug. 10. Jax has looked good at times this season, but his overall 6.75 ERA suggests that his first taste of the big leagues has been more struggle than success. He's expected to next take the mound Sunday at home in a tough matchup versus Toronto.

Merryweather will start Wednesday's game against the Rays, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.

Merryweather will make his first start of the season while serving as the opener in the rotation spot of Hyun Jin Ryu (neck), who landed on the injured list over the weekend. Ross Stripling is the likely candidate to pitch behind Merryweather in the bulk role Wednesday.

Patino will start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Patino appeared lined up to start Friday versus the Marlins, but he'll instead pitch against the Blue Jays. The 21-year-old last started Friday against Detroit, so he'll remain on a five-day schedule by taking the mound Wednesday.
