Alexander (0-3) took the loss during Friday's 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Dodgers, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout in 2.1 innings.

Alexander was victimized by home runs during each of his first two innings that got Detroit into a deficit it would not recover from. After a decent debut against Boston on April 12, the 27-year-old has surrendered nine runs through seven innings across three starts. He's currently slated to pitch during next weekend's series in Houston, though Alexander probably won't stick in the rotation once Casey Mize (elbow) and Matt Manning (shoulder) return if he continues to bleed runs.

Iglesias recorded two outs to convert a save chance against the White Sox on Friday. He walked one batter and struck out another.

Strahm earned a save over the Orioles on Friday. He struck out one batter and walked another.

Strahm took over for Hansel Robles with a runner on second and two outs in the ninth inning. After walking Anthony Santander, he struck out Chris Owings to finish the 3-1 victory. He's now sporting a 3.52 ERA with one save and seven strikeouts through 7.2 innings this season.

Brash (1-2) gave up six earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three in two innings Friday against the Mariners. He took the loss.

Jorge Soler hit a 468-foot two-run home run off Brash in the first inning and he kept giving up hits until Seattle was forced to pull him. Brash's fastball was averaging 96.3 mph, which was a tick above his season average (95.8 mph) and he got plenty of whiffs on his fastball (four) and slider (five), but he primarily relied on those two pitches. This outing was poor enough that it's conceivable the Mariners opt to let Brash try to get things sorted out in the minors, so it's no guarantee he will take the ball next week in Houston as scheduled.

Saucedo was removed from Friday's game against the Astros with right hip discomfort and is undergoing further evaluation.

He came in to start the fifth inning and gave up a hit and a walk without retiring a batter before exiting with the injury. The 28-year-old lefty has given up four earned runs and three home runs in 2.2 innings this season.

While Herget is nominally the starter, this will probably wind up being a true bullpen day. Herget was a reliever throughout his minor-league career, and his long major-league start was an inning-long appearance as an opener for the Rangers back in September of 2020. He hasn't pitched more than two innings at any point this season and is unlikely to surpass that mark Friday.

The Rays are leaning toward having Yarbrough (groin) join the major-league club for his next turn through the rotation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times

Yarbrough threw 59 pitches at Triple-A Durham on Thursday and felt good afterward. While the Rays haven't made a firm decision regarding his next steps, it's certainly possible that he returns to the majors for his next start, which tentatively lines up for Tuesday in Oakland. The southpaw likely wouldn't be built up to a full workload if he's ultimately activated early next week, but he appears to be nearly back to full health.

Francis was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

Francis was promoted from Buffalo earlier this week and made his major-league debut Wednesday, and he didn't give up an earned run over two-thirds of an inning, though he did allow an inherited runner to score. The 26-year-old will return to Triple-A, where he has a 4.11 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB over 15.1 innings this season.
