Otto pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five in Wednesday's extra-inning win over the Astros. He did not factor into the decision.

Otto allowed one run in the bottom of the second before surrendering a game-tying solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the fourth frame, which knotted the score at 2-2. He was able to pitch a scoreless fifth inning before being removed after the frame. Otto has now allowed at least one home run in five consecutive outings, surrendering six long balls over that stretch. Since returning from the COVID-19-related injured list June 26, the right-hander has posted an inflated 6.12 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 36 strikeouts over 42.2 innings in nine starts.

Clase pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit while striking out two on his way to a save in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Tigers.

Clase was asked to protect a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, striking out the first two batters he faced before Akil Baddoo singled and advanced to second base on a throwing error. The right-hander was able to escape the frame unscathed, though, inducing a game-ending groundout from Riley Greene. The save was his 26th of the year in 28 chances, and he now owns a 1.32 ERA and 0.69 WHIP with 50 strikeouts over 47.2 innings across 50 appearances in 2022.

Sewald struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Wednesday against the Yankees.

Sewald successfully protected a one-run lead to earn his 15th save of the season. The Mariners will continue to use a number of options to close out games, though Sewald has still earned three of the team's last five saves. He's also turned in eight consecutive scoreless appearances while maintaining a 6:0 K:BB across eight innings. That stretch has continued his stellar campaign, as Sewald has a 2.31 ERA across 46.2 frames for the season.

King was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

King has a 4.70 ERA over his last five big-league appearances and is coming off a stint at Triple-A Round Rock where he generated a 9.00 ERA and 1.73 WHIP across 11 innings. King will rejoin the Rangers after they placed Spencer Howard (shoulder) on the 15-day IL retroactive to Monday.

Howard was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder impingement syndrome, Richard Justice of Texas Monthly reports.

Howard surrendered six runs (five earned) over 3.1 innings during his last start Sunday, and he'll now miss at least a couple turns through the rotation due to the injury. The 26-year-old will be eligible to be reinstated Aug. 23, though it's unclear if he's expected to be fully recovered by that point. John King was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Brieske (forearm/biceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Brieske was recently pulled off his rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo after experiencing symptoms of right biceps tendinitis, and he'll be ineligible to rejoin the Tigers until at least late September after shifting to the 60-day IL. It's not yet clear whether the right-hander will be able to return prior to the end of the regular season.

Canterino (elbow) is set to undergo Tommy John surgery later this month, Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul reports.

Before being shut down in late June with a right elbow strain, Canterino turned in a 1.83 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 50:22 K:BB over 34.1 innings. He made two rehab starts in the rookie-level Florida Complex League late last month before he was shut down again. With the Twins determining that surgery is now necessary for the right-hander, he'll miss the remainder of the 2022 campaign and likely all of the 2023 season.

Bernardino was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Bernardino was recalled by the Mariners on Tuesday, but he didn't appear in the team's extra-innings win over the Yankees. He'll head back to Tacoma after Diego Castillo was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Loaisiga (2-3) was tagged with the loss against Seattle on Tuesday, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk while recording one out in the 13th inning.

The teams played to a scoreless standstill through 12 frames, and Loaisiga was brought in to handle the 13th. He allowed a leadoff single to Cal Raleigh and issued an intentional walk to load the bases with one out before Luis Torrens notched a walkoff single. Since returning from a shoulder injury July 14, Loaisiga has posted a 5.63 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over eight innings and hasn't notched a hold or a save over 11 appearances. He doesn't appear to be among manager Aaron Boone's preferred high-leverage options at the moment.

Brash (3-3) picked up the victory in an extra-innings win over the Yankees on Tuesday, firing two scoreless frames in which he didn't allow any hits, issued two walks and recorded three strikeouts.

While his location wasn't always the sharpest, Brash navigated the 12th and 13th innings successfully over a total of 29 pitches. The right-hander has now put together six consecutive scoreless relief appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on July 28, a sample of 6.1 innings.
