Pressly allowed two runs on two hits in one inning against Atlanta on Sunday. He struck out one and earned a save.

Sunday was the first time Pressly's been scored upon this month; he coughed up an RBI triple to Travis d'Arnaud and a run-scoring groundout to Vaughn Grissom before escaping with his 25th save. Pressly's ERA climbed to 3.11 with a 46:9 K:BB through 39 appearances. He's converted 25 of 29 saves on the year.

Pruitt picked up the save in Sunday's 5-3 victory over Seattle. He did not record a strikeout in a perfect two-thirds of an inning.

With the save Sunday, Pruitt is now the fifth Oakland reliever to record a save this season. Manager Mark Kotsay decided to go with Dany Jimenez in the eighth inning as the Mariners had the heart of the lineup due up. Despite recording the save Sunday, It is unlikely that Pruitt will see many more save opportunities as the A's turned to their top five options earlier in the game after starter JP Sears completed just five innings.

Fairbanks earned the save Sunday, striking out one in a perfect inning in a 3-2 victory over Kansas City.

Fairbanks recorded a save for the second straight day against the Royals and is 4-for-4 in save chances on the season. The 28-year-old spent the first three-plus months on the injured list with a lat injury and, upon returning, allowed a homer on the first pitch he threw. He has not allowed another earned run since then, tossing 12.2 innings. In August, he's thrown 7.2 scoreless innings, allowed just three hits and a walk and struck out 11 batters. Tampa Bay's closer committee continues to be unpredictable, but Fairbanks is clearly in the mix to get chances.

Astros general manager James Click said Sunday that Taylor has been removed from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Sugar Land due to posterior elbow discomfort, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Taylor was placed on the injured list in early June with left elbow inflammation, but he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment Aug. 11. After his second appearance Tuesday for Sugar Land, Taylor's elbow was bothering him again, but Click suggested that the southpaw isn't dealing with a major setback. All tests on Taylor's elbow revealed nothing concerning, so the 27-year-old could be cleared to restart his rehab assignment after a few days of rest.

The Royals will call Heasley up from Triple-A Omaha to start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks in Kansas City.

He'll be moving back into the rotation as a replacement for Max Castillo, who was optioned to Triple-A on Saturday. Over his previous 13 starts with the big club this season, Heasley has produced a 5.61 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 46:29 K:BB in 61 innings.

Yarbrough allowed two unearned runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out five in 4.1 innings in a 3-2 win Sunday against Kansas City. He did not factor into the decision.

Yarbrough held the Royals scoreless through the first four innings, scattering two doubles and a hit batsman. After retiring the first batter in the fifth, a walk, an error and a single led to an unearned run and the end of his outing. Another unearned run later scored on a sacrifice fly. The lefty had been treading on thin ice for most of the season but has been much better of late, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB in 21.2 innings over his last five outings. His 28.7 percent strikeout rate in that span far exceeds his career rate of 19.4. His next appearance will likely be at the end of next week in Boston.

Effross experienced some shoulder stiffness following Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Effross was sharp during Saturday's outing, allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out one in a scoreless inning. However, he didn't pitch during Sunday's series finale. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available Monday against the Mets.

Jimenez, who pushed his season record to 3-4 with two scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout in an extra-inning win over the Mariners on Saturday, has an unblemished ERA and 10.1 K/9 across the 10.2 innings covering his last nine appearances.

The scoreless streak stretches all the way back to June 11, three appearances prior to Jimenez's extended stay on the injured list due to a shoulder strain. The rookie has whittled his ERA and WHIP down to 3.31 and 1.16, respectively, over that span, after they'd ballooned to 4.91 and 1.32 following a rough outing against the Guardians on June 10. Save opportunities are hard to come by in Oakland this season, but Jimenez has made good use of his chances by going 11-for-13 in that category and also recording three holds in addition to his trio of victories.

The Yankees placed Abreu on the 15-day injured list Sunday with right elbow inflammation.

Abreu's move to the IL comes after he was charged with eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and two walks over eight innings in his seven relief appearances in August. The Yankees called up Luke Bard from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace Abreu on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen.

Fairbanks struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against the Royals.

Fairbanks followed Brooks Raley and Jason Adam into the game and protected a three-run lead to earn his third save of the season. It was Fairbanks' first save since July 30, and he has now turned in 10 consecutive scoreless appearances. Overall, he has maintained a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB across 11.2 innings on the season. Given that success, the Rays may opt to use him in the highest-leverage situations rather than reserve him for the ninth inning.
