Montero earned a save against the Rangers on Monday with a perfect inning that included one strikeout.

Montero continues to fill in admirably for closer Ryan Pressly (neck), and the former has now racked up five saves over the past 12 days. Montero has allowed just one earned run over five innings during that stretch while posting a 7:0 K:BB. He's the clear favorite for save chances whenever Pressly is out, but the latter could be back as soon as Tuesday, per Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.

Hendriks recorded a save against the Mariners on Monday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two batters.

Hendriks entered with Chicago up by two runs in the ninth inning and didn't have an easy outing. He allowed two singles and a walk that resulted in one run, but the closer was able to strike out Adam Frazier with the winning run in scoring position. Hendriks is one of six major-league relievers to post 30 saves on the campaign so far.

Alexander (3-9) allowed seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and no walks while striking out two in 4.1 innings, taking the loss Monday versus the Angels.

Alexander was tagged for multiple runs in the first, third and fifth innings, as he struggled against the heart of the Angels' order. This was the third straight outing where Alexander's failed to complete five innings, and he's given up 16 runs (15 earned) across 12 frames in that span. The poor stretch has inflated his ERA to 5.23 with a 1.38 WHIP and 39:16 K:BB through 72.1 innings across 22 appearances (12 starts). He's lined up for a more favorable road start in Kansas City this weekend.

Hernandez (0-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk in one inning, taking the loss Monday versus the Guardians.

Hernandez was tasked with the top of the 10th inning and faltered allowing a two-run double to Oscar Gonzalez. The Royals got one back in their half of the frame, but ultimately fell short, giving Hernandez his second straight loss. He's allowed four runs (three earned) over his last 2.1 innings. The struggling right-hander continues to put up lackluster number, as he now owns an 8.20 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 26:25 K:BB through 45 innings across 16 appearances (seven starts).

Morgan (5-3) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to pick up the win Monday over the Royals.

Morgan worked the ninth inning in a tied game and kept it that way before the Guardians took the lead in the 10th. This was his first win since June 29 -- over his 17 appearances between victories, he posted a mediocre 6.88 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, four holds and a blown save in 17 innings. He's at a 4.00 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 62:10 K:BB with 10 holds and four blown saves through 54 innings overall in a mid-leverage role.

Clase allowed an unearned run on two hits in one inning to earn the save in Monday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Royals.

Clase allowed an RBI single to MJ Melendez in the 10th inning, but the Guardians' closer was able to erase the threat with a double play. Clase had limited the damage to two unearned runs over his last 12.1 innings, adding eight saves and a loss in that span. He's converted 25 save chances in a row and now has 31 on the year. He's also posted a tiny 1.09 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 59:7 K:BB through 57.2 innings.

Patino yielded three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings against Boston on Monday. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Patino was in line for the loss before the Rays came back to win the game in the seventh inning. He served up a solo homer to Alex Verdugo in the first inning followed by a pair of runs in the third. Patino now owns a 4.34 ERA and an 11:9 K:BB through 18.2 MLB innings this season. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Fairbanks allowed one hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning while earning a save over the Red Sox.

Fairbanks worked around a leadoff single by Reese McGuire to finish off the 4-3 victory. The hard-throwing righty is now riding a 15.2-inning scoreless streak, lowering his season ERA to 1.53 with a 26:1 K:BB through 18 appearances. He's now converted all five of his save chances, though Monday's was his first since Aug. 21.

Baumann was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk following his spot start in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. He gave up three earned runs on eight hits and zero walks while striking out two in five innings to take the loss in the Blue Jays' 7-3 victory.

The innings total was a season high for Baumann in the majors, as he had typically been pitching out of the bullpen as a multi-inning reliever. He will continue to operate as a swingman or serve as organizational bullpen depth over the final month of the season.

Banda was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Banda was designated for assignment Saturday and will ultimately remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. Over 32 appearances (one start) in the majors this year, the 29-year-old has posted a 6.75 ERA and 2.10 WHIP in 26.2 innings.
