Joely Rodriguez RP | BOS
Red Sox's Joely Rodriguez: Begins season on IL
The Red Sox placed Rodriguez (oblique) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Though Rodriguez won't go on the 60-day IL to begin the season, he's expected to miss more than the minimum 15 days while he recovers from the Grade 2 right oblique strain he suffered March 18. Rodriguez has shown improvement since suffering the injury but hasn't initiated a throwing program, and the Red Sox likely won't offer a target date for his return from the IL until he's at the point in his rehab where he's facing hitters.

Wyatt Mills RP | WAS
Red Sox's Wyatt Mills: Shifts to 15-day IL
Mills (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.
Mills succumbed to right elbow inflammation late in spring training and isn't available for the start of the season. It's unclear how long the 28-year-old will be sidelined, though he shouldn't be expected to be ready to be activated when first eligible April 11.

Tigers' Beau Brieske: Lands on 15-day injured list
Brieske was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Tigers on Thursday with right upper arm discomfort.
Brieske felt discomfort after his final Grapefruit League outing. The team is still seeking a more specific diagnosis for the righty and should be able to provide a clearer timetable once that's available.

Liam Hendriks RP | CHC
White Sox's Liam Hendriks: Goes on 15-day IL
The White Sox placed Hendriks on the 15-day injured list Thursday as he continues cancer treatment.
Hendriks' recovery is going well, which is why he's being placed on the 15-day and not the 60-day IL. He could need to move to the 60-day IL eventually, but the White Sox are keeping their options open for now.

Jacob Brentz RP | TB
Royals' Jake Brentz: Lands on 60-day IL
Brentz (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
This is simply a procedural move, as Brentz will likely miss all of the 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. His placement on the 60-day IL opened up a 40-man roster spot for Jackie Bradley.

Jose Cuas RP | KC
Royals' Jose Cuas: Makes Opening Day roster
Cuas made the Royals' Opening Day roster.
Cuas had a rough spring, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight over 6.1 innings. He closed last season with Triple-A Omaha, and he'll likely bounce between levels again 2023. While with the Royals, Cuas can be expected to serve in a low-leverage role out of the bullpen.
