  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Duels it out in no-decision

Ohtani allowed three hits and a walk while striking out eight over six scoreless innings Monday in a no-decision against the Athletics. He also went 1-for-4 with a double.

Ohtani traded zeroes on the scoreboard with opposing starter Cole Irvin for six innings. His brilliant effort went to waste in the seventh, when Steve Cishek allowed three runs on one swing of the bat. The Athletics threatened to score on a few occasions, but Ohtani was able to shut the door on them each time. He induced 14 swinging strikes and notched at least eight strikeouts for the first time in nearly a month. The 27-year-old two-way superstar owns a 3.21 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 36:4 K:BB over 73 innings, and he tentatively lines up for a favorable matchup against the Rockies at the beginning of next week.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Reaches base five times

Martinez batted fifth and went 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in Monday's 13-4 win over Toronto.

Martinez had batted third in all but one game prior to Monday, but manager Alex Cora wanted to tweak a lineup that he felt had been underperforming since early in the month, per Jordan Horrobin of MLB.com. That includes losing two of three to Yankees over the weekend, a series that saw the Red Sox score just six runs while batting .172. Ironically, Cora wanted to "get some traffic" on the bases in front of Martinez -- Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers -- but none of his plate appearances in this one came with runners in scoring position.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Suffers hamstring injury

Alvarez suffered a hamstring injury during Monday's game against the Indians, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports. He went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, a walk and two RBI in Houston's 4-3 win.

According to manager Dusty Baker, Alvarez suffered the injury on his double in the seventh inning, though it's unclear if the slugger will be forced to miss any time as a result. The team is set to re-evaluate Alvarez early Tuesday before assessing his status for the second game of the series later that day.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Indians' Franmil Reyes: Goes deep again

Reyes went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 4-3 loss to Houston.

Reyes' solo shot in the fourth inning was his 16th of the year and fifth in 11 games this month. Since returning from the injured list on July 2, the right-handed slugger is hitting 14-for-44 (.318) with six extra-base hits and 13 RBI. For the season, Reyes is sporting a .928 OPS with 42 RBI and 28 runs scored.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Hammers two-run shot

Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double and a walk in Monday's 4-3 win over Cleveland.

Alvarez entered Monday's game in an ugly 2-for-30 slump over his previous eight games but broke out in a big way. His 17th homer of the season was a two-run blast in the fifth inning to give Houston a 4-1 lead. The 6-foot-5 slugger is now slashing an impressive .287/.355/.524 with 35 extra-base hits and 58 RBI through 330 plate appearances.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Drives in five Monday

Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and five RBI in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Cabrera delivered a vintage performance, with a bases-clearing double in the third inning putting the Tigers up 6-0 in a game they'd win 14-0. The veteran is still far from the dominant slugger he once was, but he's at least riding a modest three-game hitting streak and is capable of putting together nice box scores from time to time, though fantasy managers should keep their expectations tempered the rest of the season.

  • Nick Solak 1B | PIT

Rangers' Nick Solak: Not starting Monday

Solak isn't starting Monday's game against the Tigers.

Solak drew starts in each of the three games following the All-Star break and went 2-for-8 with a double and two strikeouts. Eli White will shift to second base while Jason Martin enters the lineup in left field.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Hits homer in loss

Ruf went 1-for-1 with a solo homer and a walk in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Cardinals.

Ruf drove in the only run of the day for the Giants with a solo blast off Wade LeBlanc in the fourth to tie up the game but was eventually replaced by LaMonte Wade once the Cardinals put in a right-handed pitcher. He has had much more success against left-handed pitching this season, as he's slashing .321/.458/.732 with six homers, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and a 1.190 OPS over 72 plate appearances. His struggles against righties have made him a platoon bat, which limits his upside, especially in mixed leagues.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Swats homer in win

McCutchen went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a walk in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Marlins.

McCutchen has reached base in each of the four games since returning from the All-Star break, and he hit his 16th home run of the season in Sunday's win. The 34-year-old has gone 2-for-7 with a home run, three RBI and four walks across four games to begin the second half of the year.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Could see time in outfield soon

Stanton is slated to play the outfield as soon as next weekend, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Stanton has played exclusively as designated hitter this season, slashing .263/.356/.471 with 15 home runs and 42 RBI through 298 plate appearances. However, he has plenty of experience in the outfield, having played right field -- and, to a lesser extent, left field -- during the first 10 seasons of his career. It's not yet clear how frequently Stanton will play the field, and much could depend on how soon the bevy of injured Yankees outfielders -- including Aaron Judge (COVID-19), Clint Frazier (illness), Miguel Andujar (wrist) and Trey Amburgey (hamstring) -- are able to return.
