  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Starts in LF

Jimenez started in left field and went 1-for-3 in Friday's 8-6 win over the Cubs.

The White Sox brought Jimenez gently back from a groin injury that forced him to miss four games. Friday's contest, his fourth appearance since the injury, was the first time in the field.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Three hits in loss

Alvarez went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in Friday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to Minnesota.

The slugger is on a five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-19 (.368) in that span. Alvarez kept Houston's chances alive in the 10th inning with an RBI single as his third hit of the game, after which he was replaced by pinch runner Jake Meyers. Through 392 plate appearances, Alvarez is slashing .284/.349/.520 with 21 home runs, 72 RBI, 64 runs scored and a stolen base. He's been limited mainly to designated hitter duties, but there's a chance he could eventually draw starts at first base to cover for the absence of Yuli Gurriel (neck).

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Reaches base four times

Blackmon went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and two walks in Friday's 14-2 win over the Marlins.

Blackmon's seventh homer of the year was a two-run shot off Sandy Alcantara during a nine-run fourth inning. He boosted his season OPS to .754 with 27 extra-base hits through 401 plate appearances. Over his previous five games, Blackmon was stuck in a 1-for-17 slump with one RBI.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Mashes 12th homer

Belt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to Milwaukee.

The first baseman has hit safely in both games since he returned from the injured list, and the hitting streak is up to 11 games dating back to before his knee injury. Belt's homer Friday accounted for San Francisco's lone run in the contest. He's up to 12 long balls, 30 RBI, 31 runs scored and three stolen bases while posting an .883 OPS through 209 plate appearances.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Indians' Franmil Reyes: On bench Friday

Reyes will sit Friday against the Tigers.

Reyes hits the bench after starting nine straight games, a stretch in which he hit .343 with three homers. Jose Ramirez will rest his legs as the designated hitter in his absence, with Ernie Clement covering for Ramirez at third base.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Knocks first hit since return

Jimenez started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Royals.

Jimenez, who hasn't played the field since returning from a groin injury that cost him four games, swatted his first hit since returning when he plated the White Sox's second run with an eighth-inning double. The hit snapped an 0-for-13 skid, which includes plate appearances before the injury. Andrew Vaughn and Leury Garcia have started in left field while Jimenez has served as the DH.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

    Braves' Joc Pederson: Clubs homer

Pederson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in an 8-4 victory against Atlanta on Thursday.

Pederson knotted the score at 2-2 in the fourth with his 14th home run of the season and walked and scored in the eighth as part of a six-run inning. The outfielder has been hot of late, going 8-for-17 over his last six games and raising his average from .238 to .249.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Launches homer No. 21

Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-3 defeat by the Twins.

Alvarez took Minnesota reliever Danny Coulombe deep for a two-run dinger in the ninth to halve Houston's deficit, but the blast proved to be too little, too late. The 24-year-old slugger is on track to surpass the career high 27 long balls he smacked in 2019 with 21 through 94 games thus far.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Key hit in return

Belt (knee) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in Thursday's 5-4 extra-inning win over Arizona.

After missing roughly six weeks with a knee injury, Belt returned to the lineup Thursday. The first baseman provided an RBI single in San Francisco's four-run rally in the ninth inning before he was lifted for pinch runner Steven Duggar. Belt's personal hitting streak was extended to 10 games -- he was red-hot before the injury, and he'll look to regain that form over the final two months of the season. Overall, the 33-year-old is slashing .254/.366/.509 with 11 home runs, 29 RBI, 30 runs scored and three stolen bases through 205 plate appearances.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Cracks 18th homer

Harper went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Thursday's victory over the Phillies.

Harper took Joe Ross deep to center field in the third inning to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead. It was the 18th homer of the year for Harper, who is a scorching 9-for-19 (.474) with a pair of long balls during a six-game hitting streak. He's slashing .305/.417/.563 with 42 RBI and 12 stolen bases (13 attempts) in 372 plate appearances overall this season.
