Jimenez (leg) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Jimenez will remain on the bench for a second consecutive game after exiting Wednesday's contest due to tightness in his right leg. AJ Pollock will receive another start in left field for Chicago.

Miller will sit Friday against the Mariners.

The Rangers have asked Miller to start just once all season against a lefty, a decision that makes sense considering he has a career 66 wRC+ against southpaws compared to a 110 wRC+ against right-handers. He'll sit for the second consecutive day with the Mariners turning to their second consecutive lefty in Robbie Ray.

Soler (pelvis) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting in left field and batting fourth Friday against the Phillies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Soler is back in the lineup after he missed two weeks of action while nursing a pelvic injury. The outfielder has compiled a .217 average with 13 homers, 34 RBI and 31 runs over 254 at-bats in 67 games this season. Jon Berti (groin) was placed on the 10-day IL, opening a roster spot for Soler's return.

Reyes isn't starting Friday against the Tigers.

Reyes is getting a rare day off after going just 1-for-11 with a run, a walk and four strikeouts over the last three games. Josh Naylor will serve as the designated hitter while Owen Miller starts at first base.

Carpenter went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and two runs scored Thursday against Cincinnati.

Carpenter took Reiver Sanmartin yard in the 10th inning to tally his 11th homer of the season. After a brief power slump in late June, Carpenter now has five long balls in eight July starts while also driving in 11 and scoring seven runs in that span. Carpenter owns a .338/.451/.868 line across 83 plate appearances since joining the Yankees in late May.

Brantley (shoulder) has flown back to Houston to be further evaluated by team doctors, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Brantley landed on the injured list with a shoulder issue in late June and has made slow progress in his recovery over the last few weeks. The 35-year-old took swings Tuesday but didn't feel good afterward and will have his rehab process slowed as a result. While manager Dusty Baker said that Brantley hasn't encountered a setback, it's not yet clear when the outfielder will be able to return to game action.

Miller is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Miller is 5-for-25 through eight games in July and will head to the bench Thursday since southpaw Marco Gonzales is pitching for Seattle. Elier Hernandez, who had his contract selected by the Rangers on Thursday, will bat eighth as the designated hitter in his major-league debut.

Canha isn't starting Thursday against the Cubs.

Canha is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak in which he's gone 4-for-14 with a solo home run, four walks and six strikeouts. However, Jeff McNeil will shift to left field while Luis Guillorme starts at second base Thursday.

Jimenez exited Wednesday's game against the Guardians due to right leg tightness and will be held out of the lineup for at least one matchup. AJ Pollock is starting in left field and batting seventh.

The Twins promoted Encarnacion-Strand from High-A Cedar Rapids to Double-A Wichita on Thursday.

Encarnacion-Strand had a .296/.370/.599 slash line with 20 home runs at High-A and earned Midwest League Player of the Month honors in both April and June. He's increased his walk rate (to 9.3 percent), slightly lowered his strikeout rate (25.8 percent in 2022, 28.3 percent in 2021) and increased his power (.303 ISO in 2022, .207 in 2021), so there are signs he can keep up his success at Double-A with an improved approach at the plate.
