  • Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Not starting versus LHP

Manzardo isn't in the Guardians' lineup Wednesday against Colorado.

The lefty-hitting Manzardo will take a seat Wednesday with southpaw Ty Blach on the mound for the Rockies. Jose Ramirez will assume the role of DH while Gabriel Arias gets the nod at third and bats seventh.

  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Out against right-hander

Aranda is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Athletics, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Aranda started nine of the first 10 games upon his return from the injured list but has now been out of the lineup for two of the last three contests. Harold Ramirez will occupy the designated hitter slot Wednesday while Aranda begins the game on the bench.

  • Padres' David Peralta: Idle against lefty

Peralta is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

The lefty-hitting Peralta will stay on the bench for the third game in a row, with the Padres facing southpaws in each of those contests. Since joining the Padres last Wednesday after being called up from Triple-A El Paso, Peralta appears to have settled into a platoon with the right-handed-hitting Donovan Solano, who is in the lineup for a third straight game.

  • DJ Stewart RF | PIT

Mets' DJ Stewart: Back on bench Wednesday

Stewart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Stewart had started in each of the past four games while Harrison Bader received two days off and with Starling Marte and J.D. Martinez both resting once. With the exception of catcher Francisco Alvarez (thumb), the Mets have all their key hitters available at the moment, so Stewart still looks to be part-time player despite the recent uptick in starting opportunities.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Swipes bag Tuesday

Machado went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-0 victory versus Miami.

Machado used his legs to help generate San Diego's final run in the eighth inning, hitting a one-out single and stealing second base before coming home on a Donovan Solano double. The single extended Machado's hitting streak to seven games, and he has four doubles along with three RBI and a .320 batting average during that span. However, the third baseman is in the midst of a lengthy homer drought -- he's now gone 22 games since his last long ball and has just five home runs through 223 plate appearances this season.

  • Nick Martini DH | COL

Reds' Nick Martini: Settling back into everyday role

Martini will start at designated hitter and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

He'll stick in the starting nine for the fourth game in a row after getting on base five times in 12 plate appearances in the last three contests. With center fielder TJ Friedl (thumb) returning from the injured list Wednesday, the Reds are notably keeping Martini in the lineup over Jacob Hurtubise, who had been handling an everyday role for most of the two-and-a-half-week period that Friedl was sidelined.

  • Mike Ford DH | MIN

Reds' Mike Ford: Removed from 40-man roster

The Reds designated Ford for assignment Wednesday.

Ford signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract just three weeks ago but will exit the 40-man roster after going just 9-for-60 (.150) at the plate. The 31-year-old will undoubtedly clear waivers and could remain in the organization, as declining an outright assignment would mean forfeiting the remainder of his salary.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Slugs game-winning homer

Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Nationals.

The veteran slugger broke open a scoreless tie when he took Jacob Barnes deep in the seventh inning, continuing his most recent hit streak. Ozuna has reached base safely in 21 straight games, a stretch in which he's slashing .324/.409/.662 with seven homers and 16 RBI.

  • Wyatt Langford OF | TEX

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Starts at DH in return

Langford served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Arizona.

Langford was activated from the 10-day injured list and played for the first time since May 4. His activation to the roster came at the expense of left fielder Evan Carter (back), who went on the IL, but Langford was eased in as the DH while Travis Jankowski handled left field.

  • Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Three hits in win

Manzardo went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies.

Manzardo has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, and he has an extra-base hit in six of those contests. The top prospect is at a .236/.276/.382 slash line with no home runs, four RBI, four runs scored and eight doubles over 58 plate appearances. He's had some struggles adjusting to major-league pitching with a 2:17 BB:K over his first 18 games. Manzardo may be running out of time to make an impression, as the Guardians will need to make a corresponding move to activate Steven Kwan (hamstring) from the injured list later in the week.
