  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Idle against lefty

Yoshida is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Yoshida will dodge a matchup with southpaw Cade Povich, yielding to Connor Wong at DH. Yoshida is 8-for-13 with a home run, four RBI and four runs scored in his last four games.

  • Brent Rooker DH | ATH

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Back from paternity list

The Athletics reinstated Rooker (personal) from the paternity list ahead of Saturday's game against the Giants.

As expected, Rooker will return after being away from the team for three days. He is hitting .316 with five home runs, 12 runs, 13 RBI and one steal in his last 15 games.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Placed on IL with knee injury

The Pirates placed McCutchen on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to left knee inflammation, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports..

McCutchen suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Friday's game against Seattle while running to first base. The 37-year-old was in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, and over his last 15 games he's slashed .278/.385/.481 with three home runs and 14 RBI across 62 plate appearances. Oneil Cruz is serving as the designated hitter for Saturday's contest, though Joey Bart has served as the DH in three of the Pirates' last seven games, which could mean more starts behind home plate for Yasmani Grandal. Infielder Alika Williams was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Moves up to third in order

Malloy is starting in left field and batting third in Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Malloy batted sixth Friday, but he'll move up three spots for Saturday's contest. The rookie has bounced around the order a bit recently, as he's served as the leadoff hitter twice in the past week while also sliding down to seventh on one occasion. Malloy has the power potential to be a regular middle-of-the-order bat, though he's batting just .216 and striking out 36 percent of the time this year, which has kept him from truly breaking out.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Sitting Saturday

McCutchen (knee) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

McCutchen left in the seventh inning of Friday's game against Seattle after sustaining a knee injury while running to first base. Oneil Cruz (ankle) will serve as the designated hitter and bat second against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo.

  • Bligh Madris DH | STL

Tigers' Bligh Madris: Sent down to Toledo

The Tigers optioned Madris to Triple-A Toledo following Friday's contest against the Yankees, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Madris was called up to the big club July 21. He had a strong start in the majors, but over his last 10 outings he's gone 5-for-33 with two RBI and a 27.8 percent strikeout rate. The move makes room on the Tigers' 26-man roster for the recall of Spencer Torkelson.

  • David Fry C | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Adds solo shot in loss

Fry went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Brewers.

Fry is turning things around at the plate -- he's gone just 5-for-24 over his last seven games, but three of those hits have been homers. The 28-year-old's blast Friday cut the Guardians' deficit to two runs, but they couldn't keep their rally going. Fry is up to 12 homers, 42 RBI, 38 runs scored, four stolen bases and a .268/.367/.449 slash line through 95 contests this season.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Racks up three hits in loss

Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Angels.

Ozuna was the only Atlanta batter to record multiple hits in the contest. He's shown no signs of slowing down in August, going 19-for-61 (.311) with four homers over 15 contests this month. He's up to a .302/.374/.580 slash line, 35 home runs, 90 RBI, 75 runs scored and 23 doubles across 122 games this season.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Homers, reaches three times

Blackmon went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 7-3 win over the Padres.

Blackmon has produced a trio of multi-hit efforts over his last five games. He also put an end to a power drought Friday, as the homer was his first since July 22. The veteran is up to a .256/.328/.402 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 47 runs scored and five stolen bases through 92 contests. Despite middling results, Blackmon remains the Rockies' leadoff hitter versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Battling knee injury

McCutchen was removed from Friday's game against the Mariners due to left knee discomfort.

McCutchen suffered the injury while running to first base on a single in the seventh inning, and he was immediately lifted for a pinch runner. The severity of his injury has yet to be determined, leaving his status for Saturday up in the air.
