Red Sox's Tyler Heineman: Pushed off 40-man
The Red Sox designated Heineman for assignment Saturday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Heineman has been in the minors since June 24, where he has since slashed .262/.375/.492 with four homers and 11 RBI across 73 plate appearances. Despite his solid performance, he'll be stripped of his spot on the 40-man roster in favor of Zach Penrod, who was selected from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move.

Masataka Yoshida LF | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Snaps homerless drought
Yoshida went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Yankees.
Yoshida broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning, his 10th of the season, which ended a stretch of 68 at-bats without a long ball. After a scorching start to the second half, Yoshida has cooled off over the last month, posting a .246/.288/.362 line with six RBI over the last 20 games.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Resting Saturday
Stanton isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
Stanton will get a breather Saturday after tallying a base hit in both of the first two games of the series. His absence will put Aaron Judge into the DH spot while Alex Verdugo, Jasson Dominguez and Juan Soto form New York's outfield trio.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Mets' J.D. Martinez: Taking seat Friday
Martinez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.
After starting at DH in three consecutive games, Martinez will give way to Jesse Winker on Friday. Martinez is 3-for-21 (.143) with four RBI in September.

Kyle Schwarber LF | PHI
Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: In starting nine
Schwarber (elbow) will DH and bat leadoff Friday against the Mets.
Schwarber was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to elbow pain stemming from an awkward dive back to first base on a pickoff Tuesday. All indications are that the injury is minor, and he's feeling well enough to play Friday. The 31-year-old has 35 home runs and a .868 OPS on the year.

Pablo Reyes RF | SD
Mets' Pablo Reyes: Handed outright assignment
The Mets outrighted Reyes to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The Mets DFA'd Reyes on Monday, and the shortstop has elected to remain in the Mets organization after clearing waivers. The 30-year-old was traded from Boston to New York in May, but he's yet to log an at-bat for the Metropolitans.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homer, stolen base Thursday
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Astros.
Rooker tied the game in the top of the eighth inning with a 420-foot solo shot off Framber Valdez, his 36th homer this year. The 29-year-old Rooker has been on a tear at the plate, going 28-for-75 (.373) with seven homers and 18 RBI over his last 18 games. His slash line is up to .298/.370/.580 with 102 RBI, 76 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 548 plate appearances this season.

Masataka Yoshida LF | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Taking seat versus lefty
Yoshida isn't in Boston's lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
With left-hander Nestor Cortes set to start on the hill for New York, the lefty-hitting Yoshida will step out of the lineup to begin Boston's four-game series with the Pinstripes. Tyler O'Neill will fill in as the Red Sox's designated hitter and bat fourth.

Amed Rosario SS | NYY
Reds' Amed Rosario: Losing out on regular role
Rosario is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.
After a recent stretch of 10 starts in an 11-game span, Rosario now finds himself on the bench for the second straight day, with both absences coming against right-handed pitchers. Though Rosario looked to be gaining traction as the Reds' primary designated hitter, the team has seemingly pulled the plug on using him as an everyday player while he's managed a lowly .184/.216/.245 slash line since being claimed off waivers from the Dodgers on Aug. 18. The Reds may instead prefer to rotate a number of players at the DH spot rather than giving consistent at-bats to the struggling Rosario.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Stays hot with three RBI
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.
Ohtani wasted no time in getting the Dodgers on the board, launching a 405-foot leadoff homer off Jordan Wicks in the opening frame. The superstar slugger would then draw a leadoff walk in the second before going on to swipe his 48th bag of the campaign, and he later added a two-run single in the third to extend the Dodgers' lead. Ohtani has now recorded multiple hits in four of his last six games, batting .333 (8-for-24) over that stretch with three homers, five RBI and five runs scored. He's also gone deep five times over his last 12 contests.
