Yoenis Cespedes DH | NYM
Mets' Yoenis Cespedes: Ruled out for season
Cespedes (hamstring) was ruled out for the season following an evaluation Monday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
The minimum recovery time for Cespedes's right hamstring strain was judged to be six weeks. As such, the Mets will shut him down and look toward next spring. His season ends with a .292/.352/.540 batting line and 17 home runs over 81 games. Cespedes gave the Mets exactly what they expected when he was healthy, but unfortunately, that just wasn't often enough this season.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Diamondbacks' J.D. Martinez: Connects on 29th homer of season
Martinez went 2-for-4 with two home runs, a walk, two RBI and three runs in Sunday's 11-0 win over the Giants.
After he provided a solo blast in the sixth inning, Martinez's second home run came in between eighth-inning long balls by Paul Goldschmidt and Daniel Descalso, which helped the Diamondbacks break the game open. Since coming over from the Tigers in July, Martinez has gone deep 13 times in just 136 plate appearances, but a .231 average over that span has somewhat dinged his fantasy value.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Delivers first hit in five games Sunday
McCutchen snapped an 0-for-15 slide with an RBI single Sunday in Cincinnati.
His lone hit of the game came after home plate umpire Jeff Kellogg refused to give McCutchen timeout while he was batting. The center fielder will look to snap out of his funk at Wrigley Field on Monday, where he holds a career slash line of .317/.424/.481 in 290 plate appearances.

Matt Carpenter DH | STL
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Launches 17th home run
Carpenter went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Rays.
The leadoff man's 17th long ball of the season tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning but was ultimately overshadowed by Logan Morrison's 10th-inning game-winner. Carpenter has now driven in 13 runs in his past 18 games after accruing only 48 RBI in his first 103 this season.

Yoenis Cespedes DH | NYM
Mets' Yoenis Cespedes: Will be examined Monday
Cespedes (hamstring) will head to New York and undergo further examination Monday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
After suffering a right hamstring strain for a second time this season Friday and landing on the disabled list, Cespedes looks to be at risk of being shut down, but the Mets will see how he looks during the checkup before announcing a timetable for the outfielder. Travis Taijeron was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday to give the team an extra body in the outfield, and he and Matt Reynolds are expected to see most of the reps in left field while Cespedes is sidelined.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton: Hits 50th home run Sunday
Stanton went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI in Sunday's victory over the Padres.
Stanton entered Sunday's game with an outrageous .374/.462/.956 line for the month of August. He proceeded to continue his dominance as he mashed his 50th home run of the season and brought his RBI total up to 108. Stanton hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and will look to keep putting on a show when the Marlins face the Nationals and Phillies in the coming week.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Diamondbacks' J.D. Martinez: Launches solo homer
Martinez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.
The 30-year-old continues to absolutely mash left-handed pitching -- Saturday's homer off Madison Bumgarner was his ninth in just 62 at-bats against lefties this season. He will face southpaws in the first two games of next week's series against the Dodgers (Rich Hill and Hyun-Jin Ryu).

Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT
Marlins' Marcell Ozuna: Crushes 31st home run Saturday
Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk Saturday against the Padres.
Ozuna blasted his 31st homer of the season to tie the game at one in the fourth inning of a contest the Marlins would win in extra innings. He's homered in four of his last six games, and he's been a fantasy superstar this year with a .311/.376/.560 slash line.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Strikes out as pinch hitter Friday
McCutchen struck out in a pinch-hitting appearance to end Friday's game.
Since the All-Star break, McCutchen is slashing just .256/.363/.421 with six home runs and four stolen bases in 157 plate appearances. He's posted a .642 August OPS (in 89 PA) while his plate discipline (10:19 BB:K) has suffered. Meanwhile, McCutchen's .279 career batting average in September represents his second-worst month behind only April (.254), something to consider the rest of the way. To be fair, he bounced back after not starting for a couple days in late May, so perhaps his time off will jumpstart his numbers in the short run.
