  • Mets' Yoenis Cespedes: Dealing with hip flexor strain

Cespedes has a mild strain of his right hip flexor, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports.

The issue is reportedly the same one Cespedes has been dealing with for the past several days, though it was initially referred to as a sore quad. He's available to pinch hit Tuesday but a trip to the disabled list is still possible, as the injury has been nagging him for some time.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Sits against southpaw

Pederson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against left-hander Wei-Yin Chen and the Marlins.

Pederson hasn't started against a single lefty this season, but he's gotten the nod against every righty since April 18. A strict platoon makes sense for the outfielder, as he's posted a 126 wRC+ against righties over the course of his career compared to just a 60 wRC+ against lefties. Enrique Hernandez will start in center field in his absence.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Activated for season debut

Turner (wrist) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday and is in the lineup for the Dodgers' game in Miami, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Turner has yet to play so far this season after breaking his wrist in a spring training game. He'll head immediately to the third spot in the order for a Dodgers team that could certainly use a boost, as their record currently sits at 16-24. Turner hit a very impressive .322/.415/.530 last season, though whether or not the wrist injury will have any lingering effects on his ability to drive the ball remains to be seen.

  • Mets' Yoenis Cespedes: Not starting Tuesday

Cespedes is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Cespedes had been dealing with a sore quad in recent days, though he did manage to start the Mets' last two games. Tuesday's day off appears to be an effort to get him extra rest to keep the issue in check. Brandon Nimmo will get a start in left field in his absence.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Gets rare day off

Blackmon is not in the lineup Tuesday in San Diego.

Blackmon had started every game since returning from a quad injury on April 14. On the season, he's hitting .275/.376/.549 with 11 homers and four steals in 37 games. David Dahl will get the start in center field Tuesday.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Padres' Franmil Reyes: Starting right away

Reyes is batting sixth and playing right field Monday against Colorado.

Reyes is starting at the first possible opportunity, so it's clear that the Padres want to see what he can offer. There's no guarantee he'll be up for long, as someone will have to be sent down when Wil Myers returns from his oblique injury. He was hitting a spectacular .346/.442/.738 with 14 homers in 36 games for Triple-A El Paso prior to his promotion, so if his hot start continues at the major-league level he has a good chance to carve out regular playing time.

  • Mets' Yoenis Cespedes: Launches eighth homer Sunday

Cespedes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Phillies.

It's his eighth homer of the year and first since May 1. Cespedes continues to play through a quad issue and has been getting more frequent rest days as a result, but his performance when he is in the lineup has been strong -- he's got a .324/.385/.588 slash line through 11 games in May.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Nationals' Bryce Harper: Swats 13th homer Sunday

Harper went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

The slugger started to come out of his slump during the four-game road series against Arizona, going 5-for-18 with two doubles and his 13th homer of the season. "Slump" is a relative term when it comes to players like Harper, of course -- he's hitting only .216 in May with a .259 OBP, but that comes with a .569 SLG thanks to five long balls in 12 games.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Seeing more time in left field

Belt started in left field and went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run scored in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Pirates.

It was Belt's third start in the outfield over the Giants' previous five games, as manager Bruce Bochy looks for a creative way to fill the offensive void in left field. The veteran first baseman logged 16 games (10 starts) in the outfield last year, so he is no stranger to this lineup configuration. The 30-year-old is slashing .286/.396/.496 through 37 games this season, and gaining outfield eligibility (assuming he does at some point this year) can only help his steady value.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Padres' Franmil Reyes: Slugs way to big-league promotion

Reyes' contract was purchased from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic San Diego reports.

His mammoth raw power has been on full display lately in the Pacific Coast League, as he is hitting .543 with seven home runs, eight walks and seven strikeouts over his last 35 at-bats. Reyes' power explosion at Triple-A is extra impressive given that he is age-appropriate for the level (turns 23 in July), this is his first taste of Triple-A pitching, and he is striking out less than 20 percent of the time (19.3 percent). Reyes will presumably displace Travis Jankowski from the go-to lineup while Wil Myers (oblique) is out, but it remains to be seen how the Padres will make room for everyone once Myers returns. Given his high-end raw power and contact skills, Reyes is a worthwhile add in most formats, as he could be one of the prospects from this year's class that actually swings mixed leagues.
