  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Sits again Saturday

Winker is on the bench for the second straight game Saturday against the Rangers.

Winker will sit against lefty Mike Minor. The newly recalled Phillip Ervin will take over in left field.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Makes impact out of top of order

Carpenter went 1-for-2 with a double, a run-scoring sacrifice fly, two walks and a stolen base in a win over the Mets on Friday.

Carpenter turned in a prototypical leadoff effort and recorded only his second extra-base hit of June in the process. The veteran is now well into a third month of subpar hitting to open the season, with his average sitting at a middling .222. Carpenter's .336 on-base percentage is certainly more respectable in comparison, but it still falls well below his career .374 figure in that category.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Drills 12th homer

Harper went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Friday's 9-8 loss to Atlanta.

The $330 million man has cooled down a bit after a weeklong hot streak, but he's still slashing .317/.348/.571 over his last 16 games with three homers and 14 RBI. Harper's overall numbers remain disappointing, but with 12 long balls and 48 RBI in 69 games, he's still on pace for his second consecutive 100-RBI campaign.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Stays hot with 15th homer

Blackmon went 4-for-7 with a solo home run, a double and three runs scored in Friday's 16-12 loss to the Padres.

Blackmon crushed a 434-foot home run off Kirby Yates in the 12th inning, but it wasn't enough to catch the Padres. It was the first long ball allowed by Yates all season. Since coming off the injured list, Blackmon has hit safely in six of his last seven games to improve his line to .323/.375/.638 with 15 home runs, 16 doubles, 45 runs scored and 42 RBI.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Launches solo shot

Turner went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

Turner's homer came in the third inning, tying the score at three runs apiece. The third baseman is up to seven homers and 28 RBI in 62 games this season. Over his last seven games, Turner has hit .400 (10-for-25) with three extra base hits and four runs scored.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Undergoes knee surgery

McCutchen underwent surgery to reconstruct the ACL in his left knee and repair a medial meniscus tear Friday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

McCutchen was ruled out for the season after injuring his knee during a rundown in early May. Jay Bruce now serves as the Phillies' left fielder. McCutchen should be back by the start of next season, though it's possible that recovery from surgery at least delays his start to camp.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Padres' Franmil Reyes: Hits bench Friday

Reyes is not in the lineup Friday against the Rockies.

Reyes has just four hits over his last seven games. He'll hit the bench in favor of Josh Naylor for Friday's contest.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Not in lineup

Winker is not starting against Texas on Friday.

Winker rarely sits against righties, but he'll do so against opener Jesse Chavez on Friday, with the Reds evidently wanting to protect against a lefty pitching behind Chavez. Jose Peraza gets the start in left field.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Stays hot with huge day

Blackmon went 4-for-5 with two homers, a triple and four RBI in the Rockies' 9-6 win over the Padres on Thursday.

Blackmon continued his recent hot streak with this monstrous four-hit day that included his 13th and 14th homers of the season and his sixth three-bagger. Blackmon is now hitting .316 through 225 at-bats and 35 of his 71 hits this season have gone for extra bases, giving him a fantastic .622 slugging percentage.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Phillies' Brad Miller: Acquired by Phillies

Miller was traded from the Yankees to the Phillies on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Miller is expected to join the Phillies in Atlanta this weekend. The 29-year-old utility man was slashing .294/.399/.596 with 10 homers and a stolen base through 41 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before being acquired by Philadelphia. Miller figures to provide the Phillies with a left-handed bat off the bench.
