  • Pirates' Daniel Vogelbach: Retreats to bench

Vogelbach isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Vogelbach returned from the injured list Friday and went 1-for-3 with two walks and a strikeout. However, Michael Chavis will serve as the designated hitter while Yu Chang starts at first base Saturday.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Managing knee discomfort

Vientos was scratched from Friday's lineup at Triple-A Syracuse due to knee discomfort, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Vientos has been productive in Syracuse since the start of May, slashing .320/.400/.600 with six home runs, three doubles, 14 runs and 14 RBI over 20 games during that time. The team doesn't sound too concerned about the 22-year-old's knee issue, so he should tentatively be considered day-to-day.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Homers, scores thrice in win

Pederson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and three total runs scored in Friday's 15-6 win over the Marlins.

Pederson's third-inning blast was his sixth homer in his last 10 games. This was also the second contest this year where he's drawn multiple walks. The outfielder is up to a .269/.349/.600 slash line with 13 long balls, 30 RBI, 22 runs scored and a stolen base through 149 plate appearances. Injuries are piling up in the Giants' outfield again, as Luis Gonzalez (lower leg contusion) is now sidelined, so Pederson should continue to be used heavily.

  • Pirates' Daniel Vogelbach: Activated Friday

Vogelbach (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting at designated hitter and batting third Friday against the Diamondbacks.

He has been out since May 23 and will take the place of Josh VanMeter, who was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Vogelbach hit .164/.266/.400 with three home runs in 55 at-bats in March

  • Brent Rooker DH | ATH

Padres' Brent Rooker: Called up Friday

Rooker was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

He takes the place of Wil Myers, who was placed on the injured list with knee inflammation. Nomar Mazara should start in right field against righties, but Rooker could occupy the short side of a platoon in the short term. He hit .242/.357/.568 with nine home runs and 37 strikeouts in 26 games at Triple-A.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Begins running progression

Belt (knee) will begin a running progression Friday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Belt resumed hitting in a batting cage Monday, and he'll be able to begin running to close out the week. However, it's not yet clear when he'll return to game action or whether he'll require a rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Giants.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Back in action Friday

Harper (forearm) is starting Friday against the Angels.

Harper was removed from Wednesday's lineup due to right forearm soreness, but he'll serve as the designated hitter and bat third following Thursday's scheduled off day. Over his last five games, he's gone 4-for-20 with a double, two runs, an RBI, four walks and four strikeouts.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Racks up four hits in loss

Blackmon went 4-for-5 with a run and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Braves.

The veteran drove in Colorado's first run with a first-inning single and collected another RBI with a single in the fifth. This was his second four-hit performance of the campaign, though he's still on pace for a career-worst .251 batting average. Blackmon has picked things up of late, however, slashing .400/.471/.500 with a home run and seven RBI over his past seven games.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Drives home winning run

Morel went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in a 4-3 win against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Morel led off the Cubs' half of the first inning with a walk, then took part in a double steal and came around to score on an errant throw. He made his presence felt again in the 10th frame, lofting a sacrifice fly to plate the winning run. Morel's 11-game hitting streak came to an end in the victory, but he showed that he can make an impact regardless. He's been particularly valuable on the basepaths of late, stealing five bases across his past seven games.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Could return Friday

Harper (forearm) is scheduled to receive additional treatment Thursday, and manager Joe Girardi hopes the reigning National League MVP will be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Angels, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Harper was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to soreness in his right forearm, but the Phillies hope his absence will be limited to one game. The 29-year-old has been serving as Philadelphia's designated hitter while dealing with a sprained UCL in his right elbow, though he did miss a week in mid-May after receiving a PRP injection. Harper should be considered day-to-day heading into Thursday's scheduled off day.
