Rays' Brad Miller: Raps out three hits in Sunday's loss
Miller went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.
That's back-to-back three-hit games for Miller, who's doing everything he can to snap the Rays out of their 11-game losing streak. Over the course of that plunge down the standings, he's hitting .326 (14-for-43) with three homers, five RBI and eight runs scored.

AJ Reed DH | HOU
Astros' A.J. Reed: Making first start at first base
Reed will make his first career start at first base Sunday against the Royals, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports reports. He'll bat sixth in the order.
Reed made his MLB debut at DH on Saturday, going 0-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. The rookie figures to see most of his playing time at first base, allowing Marwin Gonzalez to serve in more of a utility capacity.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Out of Sunday's lineup
Buxton is out of the lineup Sunday against the Yankees, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The Twins continue to commit to Buxton as an everyday option in center field, but he'll be rested following a string of five straight starts in which he went an unremarkable 3-for-16 with six strikeouts. The 22-year-old's on-base percentage now sits at a mediocre .233 for the season, and manager Paul Molitor may have no choice but to tighten his leash on Buxton if the outfielder fails to make major strides in his next few starting chances. Danny Santana is covering center field in Buxton's stead Sunday.

AJ Reed DH | HOU
Astros' A.J. Reed: In Saturday's lineup
Reed has officially been recalled and is in the lineup Saturday against the Royals, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The prized prospect figures to see regular playing time for the Astros at first base and as the DH, and he'll start as the latter Saturday and bat sixth. Reed was hitting .266 in 59 games at Triple-A prior to the call-up, but he's struggled against lefties this season, which may initially limit his playing time.

AJ Reed DH | HOU
Astros' A.J. Reed: Will be promoted Saturday
Reed will be promoted to the major league roster Saturday.
The Astros have decided that it is time to add Reed's bat to the big league roster, and he will join the team Saturday for its series with the Royals. Reed figures to see regular at-bats either at first base or at the designated hitter position moving forward, but his .222 batting average against Triple-A pitching this season suggests he could be held out at times against top left-handed starters.

AJ Reed DH | HOU
Astros' A.J. Reed: Called up from Triple-A Friday
Reed will be called up from Triple-A Fresno, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
It is unclear at the moment who will be optioned to make room for Reed on the roster, but he will be making his big league debut for Houston. Reed has slashed a .266/.345/.509 to go along with 11 home runs through 59 games in Fresno. He has hit for more power recently with three home runs in his last ten games. Reed is expected to join the team Saturday, and will likely be a regular in the lineup right away.

Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Indians' Michael Brantley: Experiencing tendinitis
Brantley (shoulder) received a cortisone shot Tuesday and is dealing with right biceps tendon tendinitis.
Brantley has continued to experience discomfort in his shoulder and was re-examined Tuesday, revealing the tendinitis. He still hasn't progressed to taking live batting practice and it appears he's suffered something of a setback, so he'll likely take the next few days slowly after receiving the cortisone shot. The 29-year-old had been able to take soft toss, but it's unclear what the next steps will be once he resumes baseball activities.

Brad Miller DH | SD
Rays' Brad Miller: Smacks third homer in last four games
Miller went 1-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored Monday in Cleveland.
Miller is in the midst of a power surge, with three home runs in his last four games. The shortstop is comfortably on pace to set a new career high in home runs after raising that mark from 10 to 11 in 144 games last season. Miller's .271 BABIP is well below his career mark of .289, so don't be surprised if he continues to pick up the pace offensively.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Homers in extra-inning win over Seattle
Cabrera hit a two-run homer as part of a 2-for-5 game in Monday's win over the Mariners.
Cabrera now has three home runs in his past five games and multiple hits in three of his past four contests. It's a classic hot streak for Cabrera, who is now working on his eighth consecutive season with at least a .300 batting average, .370 on-base percentage, and .520 slugging percentage. Even at 33 years old, he remains one of the game's most complete hitters.
