Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Hits two-run homer
Stanton went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's extra-innings win over the White Sox.
Stanton's two-run homer -- his 26th of the year -- came in the 10th inning off Tyler Danish in a tie game the Yankees would go on to win in 13 innings. This was Stanton's fourth multi-hit game in his last six contests, and his slash line now sits at .279/.343/.513 on the year. Stanton has the third-most strikeouts (147) in the majors, but he nonetheless ranks in the top 10 among MLB outfielders in home runs, runs (70) and RBI (69).

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Collects 34th home run
Martinez went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.
Martinez's three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning gave the Red Sox a brief 5-3 lead. The slugger has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games (.365 average with five home runs) and has a league-leading 34 home runs and 97 RBI to go along with a .328/.394/.650 slash line for the season.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Still dealing with flu-like symptoms
Jimenez (illness) won't return to the lineup Tuesday for Triple-A Charlotte as he continues to battle flu-like symptoms, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
Jimenez has been held out of the lineup since Sunday as he deals with the illness, but isn't expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time. The 21-year-old is still considered day-to-day as he nears a promotion to the big leagues.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Bullpen session Saturday
Ohtani (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Ohtani was cleared to begin a throwing program July 19 and Saturday's bullpen will be his first work off a mound with a baseball. A positive step Saturday would keep alive the possibility of Ohtani pitching again this season.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Goes through mound work without ball
Ohtani (elbow) worked off a mound with a towel instead of a baseball Monday, the Orange County Register reports.
Ohtani appears to be very close to proper mound work, as he's thrown from 120 feet on flat ground and worked off the mound without a ball. He hasn't pitched in a game since early June while rehabbing a Grade 2 UCL sprain in his right elbow, but if he keeps making progress, he could pitch again this season.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Scuffling at Triple-A
Alvarez went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Monday in Triple-A Fresno's 12-3 win over Memphis.
Though Alvarez has gone deep in two of his past three games, he has yet to truly catch fire since earning a promotion to Triple-A in early July. A .207 BABIP seems to be the main culprit behind his underwhelming .202/.297/.427 batting line, as his walk (11.9 percent) and strikeout (24.8 percent) rates are more or less in line with what he posted at Double-A Corpus Christi earlier in the campaign. The rough start in the Pacific Coast League shouldn't dramatically impact Alvarez's long-term fantasy outlook, which remains a promising one thanks to his high-end power.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Progressing through throwing program
Ohtani (elbow) has extended his throwing distance to 120 feet, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
Ohtani is rehabbing a Grade 2 UCL sprain of his right elbow. He's been used effectively as a designated hitter, as he launched two homers on the road Friday against Cleveland, and there's still hope he could pitch again this season. The next step in Ohtani's rehab figures to be throwing off a mound.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Nursing hamstring issue
Stanton has been limited to designated-hitter duties for the Yankees' last three games due to a tight left hamstring, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.
Stanton was spotted with ice wrapped around the hamstring after contests Friday, Saturday and Sunday, suggesting that the leg issue might still limit his mobility heading into Monday's series opener against the White Sox. Fortunately for the Yankees, having the DH spot available has allowed the team to keep Stanton's powerful bat in the lineup while he works through the discomfort. The injury hasn't seemed to provide any complications at the plate, with Stanton going 4-for-12 with a pair of doubles over the past three games.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Athletics' Mark Canha: Scores once in return to lineup
Canha went 0-for-3 with a run in a win over the Tigers on Sunday.
Canha had sat Saturday due to an illness, but it was apparently minor in nature. The outfielder wrapped up July by going 5-for-10 with a pair of doubles, a home run, two RBI and three runs over the last three games of the month, but he's generated a 1-for-11 tally thus far over the first three games of August. However, Canha maintains a serviceable .258/.333/.460 line that includes the second-best homer (14) and RBI (42) totals of his career.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Nearing callup
Jimenez (illness) is "really close" to joining the White Sox, Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune reports.
White Sox player development director Chris Getz said the organization's top prospect is nearing a promotion to Chicago. "He has done nothing but perform," Getz said. "This guy's been able to drive the ball to all fields. He's been able to set up pitchers. ... He's got a pretty good arm. We just want to make sure he's as ready as possible. We're getting really close." Jimenez, 21, continues to dominate at Triple-A Charlotte, batting .376 with eight home runs, nine doubles and 18 RBI in 29 games.
