AJ Reed DH | HOU
White Sox's AJ Reed: Heads to bench
Reed is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
After being scooped up off waivers from the Astros, Reed drew back-to-back starts with the White Sox to begin the second half, going 1-for-7 with a walk over that stretch. The White Sox will deploy Eloy Jimenez as their designated hitter Sunday, but Reed will likely fill that role against right-handed pitching, at least until Welington Castillo (oblique) is back from the injured list.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: Getting breather
Vogelbach is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Since a lefty (Jose Suarez) is on the hill for the Angels, Seattle skipper Scott Servais determined it was a good time to build in a rest day for Vogelbach, according to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Vogelbach will be available to pinch hit but should otherwise be in line for a well-deserved maintenance day after he was busy for most of the All-Star break and started the first two games of the series in Anaheim.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Athletics' Mark Canha: Reaches safely on four occasions
Canha went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, a triple, two walks and a run in a win over the White Sox on Saturday.
Canha continued his hot start to July with his second straight two-hit effort, which included his first three-bagger since 2017. The veteran has reached safely in 10 straight games overall and is 8-for-25 with a double, Saturday's triple, two home runs, six RBI, six walks and six runs over his first seven contests of the month.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: On base thrice in loss
Vogelbach went 2-for-3 with a walk in a loss to the Angels on Saturday.
The Mariners' All-Star reached safely for the first time in the second half of the season after going 0-for-3 in Friday's shutout defeat. Vogelbach's multi-hit effort was his first since June 29, and despite his production Saturday, he's just 5-for-25 over his first eight games of July.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Out of lineup Sunday
Cabrera is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
Cabrera will sit after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Saturday's game. The veteran is batting .298 this season, though his power has taken a big dip as he sports just a .390 slugging percentage and five home runs through 82 games. Cabrera has dealt with some knee issues this season, and with the Tigers sitting at just 28-59, the 36-year-old should continue to get plenty of regular rest days like this one.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Sitting out Sunday
Buxton (face/chest) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Indians.
Buxton exited late in Saturday's 6-2 win after he appeared to suffer a facial or chest injury while making a diving catch in the outfield. The Twins have been mum on the exact nature of Buxton's injury, but manager Rocco Baldelli described the 25-year-old's situation after Saturday's game as a "day-to-day" matter, per Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com. Max Kepler will fill in for Buxton in center field in the series finale.

AJ Reed DH | HOU
White Sox's AJ Reed: Starts second straight
Reed started at first base and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's 13-2 loss to the Athletics.
The left-handed hitting Reed's been in the starting lineup for the two games since joining the White Sox, both coming against right-handed starters. He was the designated hitter Friday followed by Saturday's start at first base.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Steals base, scores run
Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a stolen base, a run scored and a walk in Saturday's 9-2 win over the Mariners.
Ohtani drew the walk against Mariners reliever David McKay in the seventh inning, then stole second base and came around to score on a three-run blast by Albert Pujols. The designated hitter is having a strong season with a .298/.352/.556 line with 14 homers, five steals, 38 RBI and 30 runs scored in 55 games.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Exits game after catch
Buxton left Saturday's win following the eighth inning after landing hard on his face while making a catch, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Buxton stayed in the game to finish the inning but didn't come out for the ninth. He didn't appear to suffer an injury, but may have been dazed from the impact of the catch. According to Park, manager Rocco Baldelli indicated Buxton was being examined but had no specifics on what was bothering him.

Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Will sit in Game 2
Choi is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Considering Game 1 was Choi's first game back from an ankle injury and that the O's are trotting out a lefty (John Means) in Game 2, it is hardly surprising to see him sitting in the nightcap. Yandy Diaz starts at designated hitter while Nate Lowe starts at first base. Look for Choi to continue sitting against most lefties going forward.
