Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Knee remains bothersome
Manager AJ Hinch said Wednesday that Alvarez isn't completely recovered from the left knee injury he sustained at the end of June, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alvarez missed only a couple games before returning to the lineup as the designated hitter -- though he did sit two games in an NL park -- but he's apparently still battling the knee issue. The 22-year-old is out of the lineup Wednesday, but Hinch indicated it's just a scheduled off day. It seems as though the young slugger will continue to play through the injury, but Hinch said he may require "a day off here and there" to help manage things.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Athletics' Mark Canha: Clubs pair of homers
Canha went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs Wednesday against the Mariners.
Canha homered in consecutive plate appearances -- once in the fourth inning followed by another in the sixth frame. He now has 15 long balls on the season and has recorded multi-hit games in four of his five starts since the All-Star break. That's boosted his line to .254/.386/.558 across 223 plate appearances for the campaign. He should continue to see regular playing time so long as Stephen Piscotty (knee) remains sidelined.

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Out of Wednesday's lineup
Alvarez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Alvarez delivered a two-homer game in his second game out of the All-Star break, but he's just 3-for-19 with seven strikeouts since that point. Michael Brantley will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday while Josh Reddick, Jake Marisnick and George Springer start in the outfield.

AJ Reed DH | HOU
White Sox's AJ Reed: Sits against southpaw
Reed is not starting Wednesday against lefty Danny Duffy and the Royals.
Reed appears to be in a platoon role, starting against four righties and sitting against two lefties since joining the White Sox. He's gone 3-for-13 at the plate so far. Welington Castillo will be the designated hitter in his absence.

Ryan Goins DH | KC
White Sox's Ryan Goins: Contract purchased by White Sox
Goins' contract was selected by the White Sox on Wednesday.
With a career .228/.274/.333 slash line in parts of six seasons, Goins is unlikely to fill anything other than a bench role during his time with the White Sox. He'll start his first game with the team, however, batting ninth and playing shortstop Wednesday in Kansas City. Eloy Jimenez (elbow) landed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Lands on injured list
Jimenez landed on the 10-day injured list with a right ulnar nerve contusion Wednesday.
Jimenez suffered the injury during an outfield collision with Charlie Tilson in Tuesday's game against the Royals. After initially being diagnosed with elbow soreness, he'll now miss at least 10 days with a bruised nerve. Jimenez will be re-evaluated in Chicago on Monday, but the hope is that he'll be ready to return after missing just two weeks, per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. Tilson and Ryan Cordell are likely in line for an increased role in his absence.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: Not in starting nine
Vogelbach is not starting Wednesday against Oakland, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Vogelbach has gone 2-for-12 so far in the second half. Tim Beckham will play first base, with Omar Narvaez serving as the designated hitter.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Notches two hits, steals sixth base
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored in a victory over Houston on Tuesday.
Ohtani plated the first of six Angels runs in the first inning with an RBI single and then came around to score on an Albert Pujols double. He singled again in the next inning and proceeded to swipe second base for his sixth steal of the season. The Japanese slugger is enjoying a fine campaign at the plate, slashing .298/.354/.544 with 14 home runs and 40 RBI in 215 at-bats.

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Likely IL-bound
