Zack Collins C | CLE
White Sox's Zack Collins: Catches Wednesday
Collins started at catcher and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Indians.
Collins saw his six-game hitting streak snapped and is hitting just .088 (3-for-34) when he starts at catcher. He acknowledged to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times that he needs to focus on his defensive work during the offseason to prove he can be an everyday catcher. "I plan to work a little more on my catching this year," Collins said. "I worked a little bit last offseason but this year I'm going to take it to the next level and come to spring training ready to go.'' Part of a young catcher's challenge when focusing on defense is minimizing the impact it has on his bat. The White Sox like Collins' power potential and could eventually use him as DH for much of 2020.

Mark Canha LF | TEX
Athletics' Mark Canha: Removed from Wednesday's game
Canha exited Wednesday's game against the Angels with an apparent injury, Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Canha appeared to tweak something when cutting off a ball in left-center field as he slowly left the field after making an awkward throw to the infield. The 30-year-old entered the contest with a 1.010 OPS in his previous 15 games, and the potential injury couldn't come at a worse time with the A's making a final push for a playoff spot. Canha should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.

Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Rays' Ji-Man Choi: X-rays come back negative
Choi had X-rays on his foot come back negative after leaving Wednesday's win over the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Choi fouled a ball off his foot during the ninth inning and remained in the contest to finish the at-bat, but he did not retake the field for the bottom of the frame. The 28-year-old will have Thursday's scheduled off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing additional time.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: To focus on weight loss
Cabrera does not plan on having knee surgery this offseason but will focus on losing weight heading into 2020, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Cabrera has been playing through a chronic knee issue for a good stretch of the year, though his offseason will likely include platelet-rich plasma treatment as opposed to surgery. The veteran also plans on trimming down from his current playing weight of 249 pounds in an effort to take a little pressure off of his lower half. Cabrera has a solid .282 average this season but has only hit 10 home runs in 133 games, with his balky knee perhaps inhibiting some of his power.

Michael Brantley LF | HOU
Astros' Michael Brantley: Out of Wednesday's lineup
Brantley is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Brantley will head to the bench after starting the previous two contests and has a .167/.243/.258 slash line through 18 games in September. Kyle Tucker is starting in left field Wednesday for the Astros.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Out with infection
Jimenez is not in the lineup Wednesday due to an ear infection and sore throat, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Jimenez is not with the White Sox for Wednesday's game, indicating he won't be available off the bench. Daniel Palka is starting in place of Jimenez, who is slashing .348/.389/.719 with eight home runs and 23 RBI through 21 games this month. Consider the 22-year-old day-to-day heading into Thursday's series finale.

Nick Solak 1B | PIT
Rangers' Nick Solak: On bench Wednesday
Solak will sit Wednesday against Boston.
Solak doesn't necessarily have a starting job at the moment, as he's sat three times in the last five games, only starting against lefties. He's hit just 3-for-27 with nine strikeouts over his last seven games, potentially explaining his lack of playing time. Danny Santana will be the third baseman Wednesday.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Back in lineup
Cabrera (knee) returns to the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Cabrera has battled a chronic knee issue throughout the season, as he's expected to do for the remainder of his career. He's back in action following a three-game absence Wednesday, batting third as the designated hitter.

Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Day off Wednesday
Jimenez will sit Wednesday against Cleveland.
Jimenez went hitless Tuesday, ending a 13-game hitting streak in which he'd posted a .411/.450/.839 slash line. Leury Garcia slides to left field in his absence, with Daniel Palka starting in right.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Mariners' Daniel Vogelbach: Walks in return to lineup
Vogelbach (neck) went 0-for-2 with a walk in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.
Vogelbach had sat out the series finale versus the Orioles on Sunday with neck soreness, but he was well enough to serve as the designated hitter Tuesday. The slugger remains mired in a 1-for-16 slump that's encompassed his last five games, and he's now gone without an extra-base hit in 12 of his last 13 contests overall.
