Athletics' Mark Canha: Laces two extra-base hits

Canha went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two runs in Saturday's 6-2 victory over the Angels.

Canha tripled and scored in the first before doubling and scoring in the third. His .381 on-base percentage is among the best in the league, and Canha recorded his ninth HBP, putting him in the league lead.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Lines up to pitch Friday

Ohtani is tentatively scheduled to pitch Friday against the A's, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The 26-year-old surrendered two runs over 4.2 innings while showing slightly decreased velocity during his start Wednesday, so he'll receive a couple extra days before his next outing. Ohtani should continue to operate as the Halos' regular designated hitter in the meantime.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Indians' Franmil Reyes: Dealing with abdominal strain

Reyes was diagnosed with a left abdominal strain after leaving Saturday's game against the Twins, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury on a swing during the sixth inning after popping a two-run homer earlier in the contest. The severity of the injury remains unclear since he's still undergoing medical imaging, but it wouldn't be a major surprise if Reyes requires a stint on the injured list.

Indians' Franmil Reyes: Leaves with apparent injury

Reyes exited Saturday's game against the Twins with an apparent injury, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The 25-year-old went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer before suffering the injury when hitting a ball foul during the sixth inning, prompting him to leave in the middle of the at-bat. Reyes should be considered day-to-day until the specifics of the issue are determined.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Making progress

Stanton (quadriceps) could be activated during the Yankees' upcoming series versus Toronto, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

The slugger is eligible to return from the injured list Monday, which lines up with the team's first contest of a three-game set starting Tuesday against the Blue Jays. Stanton is reportedly doing well in his recovery, so a minimum IL stay is certainly a possibility. He'll likely resume full-time DH duties upon his return.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Slugs second homer

Choi went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in an extra-innings win over the Blue Jays on Friday.

Choi came on as a pinch hitter for Mike Brosseau and ended up logging four plate appearances, with his sixth-inning two-run blast tying the game at 5-5 until the 12th frame. Choi has made the most of his delayed season debut, hitting safely in each of his first five games and quickly racking up eight RBI with the help of a pair of round trippers.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Goes deep again Friday

Canha went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 8-4 win over the Angels.

Canha hit a solo home run off Jose Quintana in the third inning Friday. The outfielder has homered in back-to-back games for the second time this season. His nine homers rank third on the Athletics and four of them have come in his last seven games. The 32-year-old is slashing .250/.374/.463 in 198 plate appearances. He leads Oakland in runs scored with 35 as the leadoff man. His six steals are one shy of tying a career high through a full season.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Launches two homers

Cabrera went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Friday's 7-5 win over the Royals.

Cabrera opened the game's scoring in the second inning with a solo blast. He later put the Tigers back on top with a seventh-inning grand slam. The blasts were his first extra-base hits in the last 18 games and he was stuck in a 12-for-63 (.190) skid during that span. The veteran slugger has four homers with a .617 OPS through 115 plate appearances on the season.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: On base four times in win

Choi went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and three walks in a win over the Orioles on Thursday.

Choi has gotten his 2021 season off to an incandescent start, hitting safely in all four games while going 7-for-13 with a double, a home run, six RBI and four walks. The 30-year-old's torrid pace will naturally slow some as the sample grows, but Choi's encouraging start is a reward for fantasy managers that patiently waited matters out while he overcame a knee injury.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Homers again Thursday

Martinez went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Thursday's 8-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Martinez hit a game-winning two-run home run off Rafael Dolis in the ninth inning. In addition, he had an RBI single in the second inning. The 33-year-old went 12 games without a long ball before cranking a homer in back-to-back games. He now has 12 on the season, leading Boston and tying for third in all of baseball. He is slashing .331/.404/.608 with 37 RBI and 35 runs -- both second in all of baseball -- in 188 plate appearances.
