The Astros transferred Brantley (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Brantley has been on the shelf all season while recovering from surgery on his right shoulder, so this move to the 60-day IL doesn't affect his return date. There is still no timeline in place for Brantley to make his first appearance since June 2022, but he's reportedly been making steady progress since suffering a setback in May. Bligh Madris was selected from Triple-A Sugar Land to fill Brantley's spot on the 40-man roster.

Ford isn't in the Mariners' lineup Friday against Baltimore, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

It's been tough at the plate lately for Ford, who is 0-for-17 across his last seven games, so he'll sit Friday to regroup. Cal Raleigh will fill in as Seattle's designated hitter, allowing Tom Murphy to start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Rooker will sit Friday versus the Blue Jays.

Rooker will get a breather after he went 0-for-7 with a walk and four strikeouts while starting two games during the team's series with Cleveland. Aledmys Diaz will slot in at designated hitter while Tyler Wade enters the lineup at shortstop and bats eighth in the series opener with Toronto.

Buxton went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Thursday's victory over the Red Sox.

Buxton wasn't messing around, crushing mammoth home runs of 466 and 465 feet in his first two at-bats. He would not reach base again in the contest, but the damage had already been done as the Twins cruised to a shutout victory to split the series with Boston. After going hitless through his first six games in June, the slugger is now 5-for-11 with three homers, four RBI and four runs scored over his last three games.

The Astros selected Madris' contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Madris will take the roster spot opened up by the demotion of Cesar Salazar to Triple-A on Thursday. Madris was unimpressive during his time with the Pirates last season, slashing .177/.244/.265 with seven RBI across 123 plate appearances, but he's been solid in the minors this year. He'll most likely come off the bench while in Houston.

Turner went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total runs, two total RBI, a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Twins.

Turner knocked in half of Boston's runs in the loss, swatting a 447-foot solo shot in the third inning and singling home another run in the fifth. The veteran finished with his eighth multi-hit performance over his past 11 games, a red-hot stretch during which he's batting .432 (19-for-44) with four homers, 14 RBI, 12 runs and two steals. In his first season with the Red Sox, Turner has been a steady contributor, posting a .284/.364/.465 slash line along with 11 homers, 40 RBI, 45 runs and four thefts.

Ohtani allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 12 over seven innings, but he dropped to 6-3 on the season in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to the Dodgers.

Ohtani also went 0-for-3 at the plate, and Luis Rengifo had the only two hits for the Angels in a low-scoring loss. The one blemish on Ohtani's line was Freddie Freeman's fourth-inning solo home run, but the standout right-hander otherwise finished with double-digit strikeouts for the fifth time this season. The strong outing lowered his ERA to 3.13 with a 1.04 WHIP and 117:37 K:BB over 89 innings through 15 starts. The two-way star is next expected to take the mound at home versus the White Sox next week.

Rooker is out of the lineup Wednesday at Cleveland.

Seth Brown will serve as the A's designated hitter and bat third versus the Guardians and young right-hander Gavin Williams. JJ Bleday is starting in left field and hitting fifth. Rooker has gone 1-for-17 with 10 strikeouts across his last five games and his season OPS has dropped from .984 to .832 over the last four weeks.

Stanton is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Mariners.

Willie Calhoun will take a turn as the Yankees' designated hitter and bat third. Stanton gets a day of physical and mental rest after going 0-for-11 with one walk and seven strikeouts over his last three games.

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Cabrera had started each of the Tigers' last four games and seven of the past eight, so the 40-year-old will receive some much-needed maintenance while Detroit and Kansas City wrap up their series with a matinee contest. With Cabrera on the bench, Kerry Carpenter will re-enter the lineup following an off day Tuesday to serve as Detroit's designated hitter.
