Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Launches homer No. 20
Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-6 loss to the Nationals.
His ninth-inning shot off Andres Machado didn't impact the final result, but it did give the rookie catcher his first career 20-homer season. Alvarez's development has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets in 2023, but the 21-year-old might be wearing down under a heavy workload, slashing .200/.289/.425 in 12 games since the All-Star break.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Earning more playing time
Adams went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI in Saturday's 11-6 win over the Mets.
The 27-year-old backstop is having a breakout season, and through 100 plate appearances he's slashing .304/.354/.565 with four homers and 15 RBI. Adams isn't going to bump Keibert Ruiz out of the top spot on the depth chart, but he has started three of the last seven games and should continue to earn a bigger share of the workload at catcher as long as he keeps producing at the plate.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Mashes two homers
Kirk went 3-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's win over the Angels.
Kirk led off the bottom of the fifth with a single before coming around to score the first run of the contest on a Santiago Espinal home run in his next at-bat. The catcher would then tack onto Toronto's lead with a leadoff home run in the seventh followed by a two-run shot in the eighth. It marked Kirk's first multi-homer game of the season, and he's now batting .292 in July with three long balls and seven RBI.

Tom Murphy C | SF
Mariners' Tom Murphy: Remains hot Saturday
Murphy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Murphy plated the game's first run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning and later hit a solo shot to left field for Seattle's final tally of the contest. The backstop has opened the second half of the season on a strong note, batting .308 (8-for-26) with three homers and six RBI over eight games. That's helped him see more playing time of late, though Cal Raleigh -- who started at DH on Saturday -- remains the team's first option behind the plate.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Cubs' Yan Gomes: Swats homer Saturday
Gomes went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-1 win against the Cardinals.
Gomes hit one of two two-run homers for Chicago in the contest, taking Adam Wainwright deep to center field in the fourth inning. The long ball was just the second over the past 36 games for the backstop, though he's been otherwise quite productive of late. Over his past nine games, Gomes is batting .352 (12-for-34) with four doubles, two triples, Saturday's homer and eight RBI.

William Contreras C | MIL
Brewers' William Contreras: Slugs homer in loss
Contreras went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and two total runs in Saturday's loss to Atlanta.
Contreras produced both extra-base hits for the Brewers in the contest, doubling and scoring in the fourth inning before drilling a three-run homer in the eighth. The backstop finished with his 12th multi-hit effort over 21 games in July. During the month, he's batting .356 with three homers, eight doubles and 15 RBI.

Kyle Higashioka C | TEX
Yankees' Kyle Higashioka: Bursts out of slump
Higashioka went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Orioles.
After entering Saturday's contest 2-for-24 (.083) in his last 11 appearances, Higashioka delivered a trio of hits, including a solo homer off Cole Irvin in the sixth. The outing was much-needed for Higashioka, who assumed primary catching duties earlier this week with Jose Trevino (wrist) undergoing season-ending surgery but had gone hitless since receiving the starting job. Though Ben Rortvedt could push Higashioka for catching duties if his struggles at the plate continue, Saturday's outing likely earned Higashioka more opportunities to cement himself as the clear No. 1 option.

Yainer Diaz C | HOU
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Productive day at plate
Diaz went 2-for-5 with one double, a two-run home run, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Saturday's victory over Tampa Bay.
Diaz tagged starter Taj Bradley for a two-run shot in the second inning, marking the 24-year-old's 13th homer of the season and his third in the past six games. However, he didn't stop there, plating Chas McCormick on a fifth-inning double off Calvin Faucher. Over his last 16 games, Diaz is 15-for-54 (.278) with five home runs and 13 RBI.

Jose Trevino C | CIN
Yankees' Jose Trevino: Undergoes successful surgery
Trevino posted on his personal Twitter account Thursday that his wrist surgery "went well."
Trevino's surgery was needed to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist. The backstop will miss the remainder of the 2023 season but expects to be ready for spring training next year, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Shea Langeliers C | ATH
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Sitting out Saturday
Langeliers isn't in the Athletics' lineup Saturday versus the Rockies.
Langeliers will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored during Friday's victory. Tyler Soderstrom will start behind the dish and Brent Rooker will serve as Oakland's designated hitter.
