  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Sitting Tuesday

Campusano isn't in the Padres' lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Campusano will get a breather Tuesday after going 9-for-28 with seven RBI and four runs scored across nine games since the beginning of September. Brett Sullivan will take over behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Expected back Wednesday

Bailey (head) said he expects to be activated from the 7-day concussion injured list Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Bailey was diagnosed with a mild concussion following a home-plate collision with Jeimer Candelario last Tuesday. Joey Bart and Blake Sabol have been sharing starts at catcher for the Giants during Bailey's one-week absence.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Idle against lefty

Naylor isn't in the Guardians' lineup Tuesday against the Giants.

With lefty Sean Manaea set to start Tuesday for San Francisco, the lefty-hitting Naylor will stay put in Cleveland's dugout for the beginning of the game. David Fry will fill in behind the dish and bat fourth.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Kirk is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Rangers.

Kirk is hitting .250 with three doubles, five runs and four RBI in 10 games this month. Tyler Heineman is starting behind the plate, batting ninth.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Day off Tuesday

Murphy is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.

Travis d'Arnaud will start at catcher and bat sixth versus right-hander Zack Wheeler. Murphy continues to get regular days of rest as the runaway NL East leaders look ahead to the postseason.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Back in lineup Tuesday

Alvarez (hand) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Alvarez sat out Monday's series opener after taking a pitch off his right hand Sunday in Minnesota, but X-rays turned up clean and he's good to go for Tuesday's tilt at Citi Field. The 21-year-old will start at catcher and bat ninth versus the Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Sitting out Tuesday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

It marks 13 straight games that the Twins have alternated starts at catcher for Jeffers and Christian Vazquez. Jeffers has cooled off a bit over the last month, putting up a .612 OPS with one home run across his previous 74 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Season over after finger surgery

Fermin underwent season-ending surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured left middle finger, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Fermin suffered the injury last Friday on a catcher's interference call. He is certainly done for the season, but the hope is that he will be fully healthy by the time spring training rolls around. It's an unfortunate ending to what has been a nice season for Fermin, who batted .281/.321/.461 with nine home runs over 235 plate appearances in 2023. The 28-year-old has positioned himself to open 2024 as Salvador Perez's backup again, or perhaps even take over as starter if the Royals decide to trade Perez over the winter.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Sitting out afternoon tilt

Wells is absent from the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Higashioka will do the catching for Randy Vasquez in the afternoon contest. Wells is sure to be back out there for the nightcap.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Sitting out first game

Wong is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Reese McGuire will do the catching for Nick Pivetta in the afternoon contest. Wong is very likely in line to catch the second game of the double dip.
