    Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Back in action

    Herrera went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 11-5 loss to Houston.

    One day after being removed from a game due to a head injury, Herrera returned to the lineup. He had been hit on the top of his catching helmet by the backswing of Kyle Tucker's bat during Friday's contest and was removed for precautionary reasons. Herrera cleared testing protocols following the game and was able to resume play Saturday.

    McCann went 1-for-2 with an RBI single in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

    McCann drew one of his infrequent starts behind the plate and drove home the Athletics' only run with a fifth-inning single that plated Zack Gelof. The rookie had last accounted for an RBI on July 28, and he's sporting a .248 average and .705 OPS over his modest 140 plate appearances this season.

    Pages went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Mariners.

    Pages came through in the eighth inning, launching a Logan Gilbert slider over the left-field fence for the only scoring play of the game. Pages has gone 4-for-14 (.286) over four games in September, but three of those hits have been homers. The catcher is up to six long balls, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base and a .245/.287/.396 slash line through 172 plate appearances this season.

    Contreras went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Rockies.

    Contreras took Ty Blach deep for a two-run homer in the third inning and set a new career high for homers in a season after he hit 20 in 2022 with Atlanta. Contreras' multi-hit effort broke him out of a 0-for-19 slump over his last six games. The 26-year-old catcher has found his power stroke as of late with 10 home runs since the beginning of August, including four in his last 10 starts.
