  • Austin Wells C | NYY

    Yankees' Austin Wells: Idle Wednesday

Wells is not in the Yankees' starting lineup against the Angels on Wednesday.

Wells will get a breather after going 1-for-7 with one RBI in the first two games of the series. J.C. Escarra will serve behind home plate to catch for Clarke Schmidt.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Back in Wednesday's lineup

Kelly (illness) is starting behind home plate and batting fifth against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Kelly is back in the lineup after being omitted from Tuesday's starting nine due to an illness, though he did pinch hit for Reese McGuire in the ninth inning. Kelly has slashed .241/.328/.389 with 11 runs, two home runs and three RBI in 61 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

  • Angels' Chuckie Robinson: Jettisoned from 40-man roster

The Angels designated Robinson for assignment Wednesday.

The Angels DFA'd Robinson and Tim Anderson, which made room on the 40-man roster for Scott Kingery and Robert Stephenson (elbow). Robinson was traded by the White Sox to the Angels in December, but the 30-year-old catcher was unable to crack the Halos' Opening Day roster. Robinson is slashing .272/.315/.388 with one home run and 18 RBI across 112 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, and he could garner interest from teams looking to add depth behind the plate.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Back in starting nine

O'Hoppe (head) will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports.

O'Hoppe took a backswing off his head during Monday's contest and missed out on the starting lineup Tuesday, though he still managed to get into the game as a pinch hitter. Now set to start as the DH, the 25-year-old will look to stay hot after going 10-for-32 with four homers across his last 10 games.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Sitting down Wednesday

Kirk isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Texas.

Kirk will get a chance to rest during Wednesday's series finale after going 2-for-6 with an RBI through the first two games. Ali Sanchez will catch for starter Paxton Schultz instead and bat eighth.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Rangers' Jonah Heim: On bench Wednesday

Heim is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Heim will yield to Kyle Higashioka behind the dish Wednesday. Heim is 2-for-18 (.111) with eight strikeouts over his last six appearances.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Back in lineup Wednesday

Manager Tony Mansolino said that Rutschman will be in the lineup at designated hitter for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rutschman missed back-to-back games after taking a foul tip to the mask Sunday, but the catcher will avoid a stint on the IL and has been cleared to return to the lineup. It's unclear if Rutschman will need multiple games at DH before being put back behind the dish.

  • Joey Bart C | ATL

Pirates' Joey Bart: Out with concussion

The Pirates placed Bart on the 7-day injured list Wednesday due to a concussion.

The 28-year-old was struck in the head by a backswing Tuesday and will be unavailable for at least the next week while in the concussion protocol. The Pirates reinstated Endy Rodriguez (finger) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move, and he should split catching duties with Henry Davis while Bart is sidelined.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Getting Wednesday off

Moreno is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Moreno started the previous four games and will receive a breather Wednesday after going 5-for-16 with a double and a triple during that span. Jose Herrera will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Zac Gallen in the series finale versus Pittsburgh.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

    Astros' Yainer Diaz: Idle Wednesday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

After catching back-to-back games, Diaz will cede to Victor Caratini behind the dish Wednesday. Diaz is slashing .232/.273/.362 in 187 plate appearances this season.
