Realmuto is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers.

The Phillies will give Andrew Knapp a turn behind the plate in Realmuto's stead while the team concludes its series with Milwaukee with a day game after a night game. Realmuto has assumed one of the heaviest catcher workloads in the league, manning the position in 36 of the Phillies' first 42 games.

Updating a previous report, manager Kevin Cash remarked after Wednesday's game that Bemboom's knee injury is a sprain and that the catcher will be placed on the injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The young backstop exited Wednesday's win over the Marlins with what was described as left knee soreness, but the issue is apparently serious enough to warrant time on the shelf for Bemboom. Topkin also reports that the injury originally occurred when Bemboom blocked a pitch at some point during the game. Nick Ciuffo, who was just sent to Triple-A Durham last Saturday, is expected to be called back up to platoon alongside Travis d'Arnaud behind the dish.

Bemboom was removed from Wednesday's game against the Marlins with left knee soreness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Bemboom made his second start behind the plate since being called up last week but was unable to finish the contest. The 29-year-old is expected to be evaluated further after the game. The Rays can ill afford another injury at catcher with Mike Zunino (quad) and Michael Perez (oblique) already on the injured list.

Hedges is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Hedges is hitting just .154/.267/.154 through eight appearances this month, so he'll take a seat for Wednesday's series finale as he looks to clear his head. Austin Allen is starting behind the dish and hitting sixth in place of Hedges in this one.

Caratini (hand) will probably be activated from the 10-day injured list in the next day or two, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Caratini has appeared in nine minor-league rehab games thus far, going 8-for-30 (.267) with a pair of doubles and a 3:4 BB:K in those contests. He should reclaim his role as the team's backup catcher once healthy, likely sending Taylor Davis back to the minors. Prior to landing on the shelf, Caratini was 8-for-14 with a homer, three doubles and five RBI in six games.

Sanchez is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Sanchez will take a seat for the second half of Wednesday's twin bill after catching all nine innings and going 2-for-3 with a walk and a homer in Game 1. Austin Romine is starting behind the dish in his place.

Barnes is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Barnes is hitting just .179/.258/.357 with a homer and a steal in 10 games since the start of May, so he'll take a seat for Wednesday's series finale as he looks to hit the reset button. Russell Martin is starting behind the dish and hitting eighth in this one.

Grandal is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Phillies.

With a day game on the docket for Thursday, Grandal will get Wednesday night off while Manny Pina sets up behind the dish. The 30-year-old Grandal has collected hits in four of the past five games (all starts), going 6-for-19 (.316) with a homer and six RBI during that stretch.

Contreras is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds.

Contreras has started the last four games behind the dish for the Cubs, going 5-for-18 with a homer and three RBI during that stretch. In his stead, Taylor Davis is catching Yu Darvish and hitting eighth.

Rupp was released by the Tigers on Monday.

Rupp is still just 30 years old, and there are many catchers with career slash lines worse than his .234/.298/.407 who have major-league jobs, but he hasn't been able to get into a big-league game since 2017. He hasn't had the best of auditions at the Triple-A level, where he's hit a modest .229/.322/.413 in 107 games with four different organizations since the start of 2018.
