Sanchez (groin) is doing better than anticipated but likely won't be able to return when first eligible Saturday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Sanchez has been out for a week due to a groin strain. He's resumed running and hitting but will apparently require more than four more days before he's ready to go. Austin Romine and Kyle Higashioka have split time behind the plate in his absence.

Stallings will start at catcher and bat eighth Tuesday in Cincinnati.

Since the beginning of July, Stallings has slashed .273/.333/.394 in 36 plate appearances. He's also started nine of the team's last 17 games, earning at least an equal timeshare behind the plate with Elias Diaz. Stallings offers little in the way of power or speed, but he does feature a career .303 batting average in 142 at-bats.

Smith isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Smith has collected five base knocks over his last three contests, including four extra-base hits. He'll take a seat for the second matchup of the series, opening the door for Russell Martin to handle the catching duties.

Rogers' contract was selected from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Rogers has some potential as a catching prospect and is likely to be given plenty of chances to show what he can do down the stretch. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, most of that potential comes on the defensive side of the ball, as he recorded a modest 95 wRC+ in 48 games for Toledo this season. He's still worth a look in deeper formats where any catcher with regular at-bats has value, however. Bobby Wilson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Narvaez is not in the lineup Tuesday against Texas, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Narvaez has had at least three hits in four of his last 16 games, hitting .365/.421/.615 over that stretch. Tom Murphy starts behind the plate in his absence.

Contreras isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Contreras is 2-for-13 with a double and an RBI over his last three contests, so he'll catch a breather Tuesday. Victor Caratini will handle the catching duties and back sixth in Contreras' stead.

Diaz isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Diaz will head to the bench for the third time in the last four days. Jacob Stallings draws the start behind the dish and is set to hit eighth in Diaz's absence.

Gallagher is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Meibrys Viloria will handle the catching duties after Gallagher was behind the dish for three of the past four games. Gallagher has gone 8-for-26 with five walks in nine contests since taking over as Kansas City's primary catcher after Martin Maldonado was dealt to the Cubs two weeks ago.

Hedges is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Francisco Mejia will handle catching duties in the series finale, but he seems to have fallen behind Hedges on the depth chart, given the usage of both backstops recently. Hedges had started four of the Padres' previous six games, and it looks like his superior defense could be the playing-time tiebreaker between the two when Mejia is in the midst of dry spells at the plate.

Barnhart is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh.

Barnhart has gone 6-for-10 at the plate over his last three games. He'll get a rest in favor of Kyle Farmer on Tuesday.
