McCann went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI on Wednesday against the Tigers.

McCann drove in a run on all three of his hits, which included two singles and a double. It was his third consecutive multi-hit effort, a stretch during which he's managed three doubles, four runs scored and five RBI. This stretch is a continuation of his impressive campaign, as he's hitting .288/.342/.463 across 240 plate appearances.

Moore was acquired by the Royals from the Rangers on Wednesday for cash considerations.

The MLB trade deadline may have come and gone last week, but minor leaguers like Moore are still free to be traded. The 35-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers in February and has a .255/.363/.349 slash line in 31 games at Triple-A.

Davis was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Davis is no longer needed with the big club, as Jonathan Lucroy, who signed with the Cubs on Wednesday, is set to join the team ahead of Thursday's series opener in Cincinnati. The backstop went hitless in three at-bats during his most recent stint with Chicago.

Gallagher was scratched from Wednesday's game against the Red Sox with left side tightness, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Gallagher apparently picked up the injury during pregame batting practice. Meibrys Viloria is now starting at catcher and hitting seventh in place of Gallagher, who should be considered day-to-day.

Perez is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rangers, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Perez caught all nine innings during Game 1 of the twin bill, going 0-for-2 with a walk in the process. Kevin Plawecki is starting behind the dish and hitting ninth in his place in Game 2.

Narvaez is not starting Wednesday against the Padres, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Narvaez will sit after starting the past three games and going just 1-for-10 with a walk and two strikeouts. In his place, Tom Murphy is starting behind the plate and hitting fifth.

Diaz is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.

Diaz has started the past two games and has gone 1-for-6 with a run scored and a 2:2 BB:K. Jacob Stallings is starting behind the dish and hitting eighth in this one.

Smith is not starting Wednesday against the Cardinals, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Smith owns an excellent .293/.354/.707 slash line with six homers in nine games this season. The rookie will sit in favor of veteran Russell Martin on Wednesday.

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Though he'll give way to Mike Zunino behind the dish for the second time in the series, d'Arnaud seems fairly secure as the Rays' preferred option at the position. Unless he's used off the bench as a pinch hitter Wednesday, D'Arnaud should check back into the lineup for Friday's series opener in Seattle, where he will look to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

For the sixth game in a row, the Blue Jays will alternate the starts at catcher between Jansen and Reese McGuire. Though Jansen maintains the top spot on the depth chart, manager Charlie Montoyo's recent usage of his backstops suggests a timeshare could be in place while the 24-year-old labors through a rough second half. Over his 20 games since the All-Star break, Jansen is slashing .185/.254/.262 with a 28.2 percent strikeout rate.
