Contreras isn't starting Tuesday against the Reds.

Contreras had started in each of the Cubs' first four games this year, but he'll take a seat Tuesday after putting together multi-hit performances in the past two games. Victor Caratini will start behind the plate and bat second.

Jansen is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.

Jansen will sit for the second time in the season's first five games. Reese McGuire will again get the nod behind the plate.

Rosario signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Rosario spent the 2019 season with Triple-A Reno, and he'll return to the organization as part of the 60-man roster for the 2020 season. He'll report to the team's alternate training site and should serve as organizational depth this year. The 33-year-old hit .250 with 11 RBI and 27 RBI over 42 games in the minors last season.

Barnhart (personal) was activated off the three-day paternity list Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barnhart was away from the team over the past several days following the birth of his child, but he'll be eligible to return as early as Tuesday's game against the Cubs. When he does play, he'll be making his season debut after hitting .231/.328/.380 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI last year. Robert Stephenson (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Vazquez is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Vazquez will sit for the second time in the season's first five games. Kevin Plawecki takes over behind the plate.

Stephenson went 2-for-2 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Cubs.

Curt Casali got the start but came out of the game in the seventh inning with the Reds down 7-1, allowing Stephenson to make his major-league debut in a seemingly low-pressure spot. Instead, the 23-year-old keyed a Cincy comeback that fell just short as he launched a solo homer on the second pitch he saw in the bottom of the frame. He then singled in the eighth to kick off a two-out rally and drew a bases-loaded walk off Craig Kimbrel in the ninth to bring the Reds within one run. Casali has started every game to begin the season, but Stephenson's impressive performance should put him in the mix for more work behind the plate, at least until Tucker Barnhart (paternity) returns.

Jansen went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-1 win over the Nationals.

The catcher took Anibal Sanchez deep in the fourth inning for his first homer of the year. Jansen has started three of the Jays' first four games, going 4-for-11, and he figures to get the majority of the work behind the plate this season.

Narvaez isn't in the lineup Monday against the Pirates.

Narvaez received the nod behind the plate over each of the Brewers' first three games and went 1-for-8 with a double, three runs, one RBI and two walks during that span. However, he'll get a day off Monday with Manny Pina starting at catcher, batting eighth.

Maldonado will sit Monday against the Mariners, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Maldonado started each of the season's first three games but will get a rest Monday. Dustin Garneau gets the nod behind the plate in his absence.

Contreras will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Rays.

Contreras impressed in his first two major-league games against the Mets, going 4-for-6 with a double and one RBI. As a result, he'll get the nod at catcher once again, taking the place of Alex Jackson.
