Bemboom was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Bemboom served as a third option behind the dish recently and went 1-for-8 with a run, an RBI and four strikeouts across two games during his stint with the major-league club. He'll head back to the minors after right-hander Chris Rodriguez (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Murphy, who went 1-for-3 in a loss to the Athletics on Wednesday, is hitting .333 (8-for-24) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI, three walks and five runs across his last nine games.

The surge has boosted Murphy's slash line from .127/.179/.304 to a still-abysmal-but-ascending .175/.232/.388. The veteran catcher has typically been a solid offensive contributor throughout his career, but he's split more playing time behind the dish than originally planned with the since-demoted Luis Torrens and Jose Godoy due to his struggles.

Vazquez will sit Thursday against the Astros, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Vazquez has handled a very heavy workload behind the plate this season, with his 42 starts ranking second among all backstops. He'll get a rest during Thursday's afternoon contest, with Kevin Plawecki taking over in his absence.

Gomes is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Gomes hits the bench after starting five straight games. Alex Avila will get the nod behind the plate in his absence.

Sanchez will sit Thursday against the Rays.

Sanchez has gone 7-for-18 with a homer and a pair of doubles over his last seven games. He'll get a rest after making back-to-back starts, with Kyle Higashioka set to catch Gerrit Cole.

Gomes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Atlanta.

His eighth-inning blast off A.J. Minter broke a 3-3 tie and proved to be the winning run. Gomes hadn't gone yard in nearly a month, and on the season the veteran catcher is slashing .258/.291/.430 with five homers and 17 RBI in 36 games.

Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a triple Wednesday against the Orioles.

Jeffers took over behind the plate in the absence of Mitch Garver (groin), who is expected to miss a significant amount of time. He provided a solo homer in the second inning, his first of the season. Jeffers then delivered another RBI and came around to score after collecting a triple in the eighth frame. Prior to being recalled Wednesday, Jeffers was hitting .217/.340/.446 across 103 plate appearances with Triple-A St. Paul.

McCann went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 7-6 win over Arizona.

McCann opened the scoring with a three-run blast in the first inning. Arizona rallied for the lead in the bottom of the first, but McCann retied the game with an RBI single in the second. The catcher has been mediocre at the plate with a .233/.297/.353 slash line, four home runs, 17 RBI and 10 runs scored in 41 games. He's shown a little more promise lately with eight hits in his last 16 at-bats, including two homers.

The Twins placed Garver (groin) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The move comes as no surprise after Garver underwent surgery Wednesday. The exact timeframe for his return is unclear, but manager Rocco Baldelli indicated Garver will require at least a few weeks to recover.

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a two-run double, a walk and a run in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Murphy's seventh-inning two-bagger doubled the Athletics' lead to four runs at the time and gave the clutch-hitting backstop his sixth and seventh RBI over his last five games. Murphy is hitting just .222 over that stretch while striking out a massive 35.0 percent clip, but the contradictory numbers are simply a microcosm of a season in which his .379/.457/.517 slash line with men in scoring position thoroughly dwarfs his .215/.310/.389 season-long figures.
