Grandal (back) progressed substantially over the weekend, but he is expected to go on a rehab assignment prior to being activated from the injured list, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Grandal stayed in Chicago for the team's weekend series at Houston to receive treatment. General manager Rick Hahn was positive when speaking about the progress Grandal made in that span, implying that Grandal would be reevaluated in the middle of this week with the potential of resuming batting practice as well as playing in sim games. Hahn also made clear that he prefers Grandal to complete a rehab assignment prior to being activated. That likely puts Grandal's return in early July at the earliest.

Heineman went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Monday against the Cubs.

Heineman doubled in a run in the seventh inning to contribute to a five-run rally for Pittsburgh. It was his first hit in his last 21 at-bats -- a span of seven starts. Heineman is still operating as Pittsburgh's primary catcher, though he's hitting just .155/.221/.211 across 80 plate appearances on the season.

D'Arnaud went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a 2-1 win against San Francisco.

D'Arnaud got the Braves on the board with his second-inning solo shot off Logan Webb. The long ball was his second in as many games and fourth across his past five contests. Over the productive stretch, d'Arnaud is slashing .286/.318/.857 with four homers, eight RBI and six runs.

Perez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-2 win over the Angels.

Perez went 0-for-8 across his last two games, but he snapped that small skid Monday. His biggest hit was his eighth-inning two-run blast to give the Royals a three-run lead. The catcher has homered five times in 18 games in June while batting .257 (18-for-70). For the season, he's up to a .212/.252/.428 slash line with 11 long balls, 34 RBI, 25 runs scored and 13 doubles in 234 plate appearances.

Jansen (finger) hit off a tee and played catch Monday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Jansen was cleared to perform minimal baseball activities last week and was able to ramp up his activities Monday. It's not yet clear when he 27-year-old will be able to return from the injured list, but he's made good progress recently.

Stassi isn't starting Monday's game against the Royals, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Stassi will get a breather after he went 1-for-7 with a double, an RBI, a walk and a strikeout over the last two games. Kurt Suzuki is starting behind the plate and batting seventh.

Gallagher (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Gallagher began a rehab assignment in late May and hit .182 with two homers, a double, five RBI and three runs over 10 games at Triple-A Omaha. He'll provide additional depth behind the dish for the Royals now that he's back to full health.

Kirk isn't starting Monday's game against the White Sox.

Kirk started in the last five games and went 4-for-16 with a home run, a double, four runs and three RBI during that time. Vladimir Guerrero is serving as the designated hitter while Gabriel Moreno starts behind the dish.

Gomes isn't starting Monday against the Pirates.

Gomes went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts during Sunday's series finale against Atlanta and will be held out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Willson Contreras is starting behind the dish while Rafael Ortega serves as the designated hitter.

McGuire went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double Sunday against the Astros.

McGuire was in the lineup for the first time in the White Sox's last three games, previously giving way to Seby Zavala. He responded to the opportunity with a one-out double in the second inning, but he was ultimately stranded there. McGuire has a modest five-game hitting streak and has also tallied three doubles in that span, so it's possible he begins to reclaim playing time with Yasmani Grandal (back) sidelined.
