  • Tomas Nido C | DET

    Mets' Tomas Nido: Starting Saturday

Nido (hand) is starting Saturday against San Diego.

Nido was removed from Friday's matchup against the Padres due to a left hand contusion, but he said prior to Saturday's game that he's moved past the injury and isn't concerned that it'll be a long-term issue. The Mets acquired Michael Perez from the Pirates on Saturday to serve as additional depth behind the plate, but it seems like Nido will be available moving forward.

    Pirates' Jason Delay: Resting Saturday

Delay isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Marlins.

Delay hit his first major-league home run during Friday's loss to Miami but will retreat to the bench a day later. Tyler Heineman is starting behind the plate and batting ninth.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Cubs' Yan Gomes: Remains out of lineup

Gomes isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Phillies.

  • Eric Haase C | CHW

Tigers' Eric Haase: Riding pine Saturday

Haase isn't starting Saturday against Minnesota.

Haase is out of the lineup for a second consecutive game after he went 0-for-3 with a run and two walks during the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Athletics. Tucker Barnhart will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Gets breather Saturday

Jansen isn't starting Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Jansen had a monster performance during Friday's 28-5 win over the Red Sox, going 3-for-6 with two home runs, six RBI, four runs and a walk. However, he'll get a breather a day later since Alejandro Kirk is starting behind the plate while Cavan Biggio enters the lineup at first base.

  • Mets' Michael Perez: Traded to Mets

Perez was traded from the Pirates to the Mets on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Perez was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Friday, but he'll quickly find a new organization. He'll join the Mets' active roster as additional depth behind the plate since James McCann (oblique) and Tomas Nido (hand) are banged up. Travis Blankenhorn was designated for assignment to make room for Perez on the major-league roster.
