Gomes went 3-for-4 with a home run and three total RBI in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Rockies.

Gomes accounted for half of the Cubs' six hits. Two of those gave them their only scoring plays in the game -- a two-run single in the third inning and a solo shot in the sixth, both off Rockies starter Ryan Feltner. Gomes continues to see most of the starts at catcher with Willson Contreras (ankle) out, with P.J. Higgins holding down a backup role. This was Gomes' third multi-hit effort in September, a month in which he's hit .378 (14-for-37) with two long balls and eight RBI. He's up to a .242/.270/.375 slash line with eight homers, 28 RBI, 22 runs scored and two stolen bases through 78 contests overall.

Kirk (hip) is expected to return Tuesday against the Phillies, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Kirk was excluded from the lineup for a fifth consecutive game Sunday against the Orioles, but he was available off the bench if needed. The 23-year-old should be able to return to the lineup following Monday's scheduled day off.

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Smith will take a seat for the series finale after a stretch of eight consecutive starts during which he went 7-for-32 (.219 average) with three extra-base hits and four walks. Austin Barnes will replace Smith behind the plate.

Stassi is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Stassi will take a seat after he caught each of the Halos' last three games while going 0-for-10 with five strikeouts in those contests. Matt Thaiss will spell Stassi behind the plate Sunday.

Raleigh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Raleigh made his return to the lineup Saturday following a one-game absence due to a jammed left thumb. Though he got on base twice in the Mariners' 2-1 loss and didn't appear to suffer any setbacks, the lefty-hitting Raleigh will get some maintenance for the day game after a night game and while the Angels bring a southpaw (Reid Detmers) to the hill. Campusano went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a 2-0 win against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Campusano made the most of a rare start behind the plate, swatting a solo homer off Zac Gallen in the fourth inning for one of two Padres runs in the contest. The long ball was his first this season and his second over 23 career games. Campusano has shown good pop in the minors, but he's clearly behind Austin Nola and Jorge Alfaro on San Diego's catcher depth chart for the time being.

Trevino (knee) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Brewers, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

The Yankees have an off day Monday, so Trevino will get another day to perhaps get right. He left Friday's game after taking a foul tip off his right knee. Kyle Higashioka has been starting in his place.

Raleigh (thumb) went 1-for-3 with a walk in a loss to the Angels on Saturday.

Raleigh needed just one game off to recover from his jammed left thumb, reentering the lineup Saturday with a productive effort. The 25-year-old is putting together a serviceable September, posting a middling .243 average but complementing it with a .912 OPS thanks in large part to five extra-base hits (one double, four home runs) across 41 plate appearances.

McCann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Pirates, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McCann and Tomas Nido have alternated starts behind the plate over the past five contests, and that trend will continue after McCann started Saturday and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Nido will bat ninth in the series finale against Pittsburgh.

Adams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus Miami, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The 26-year-old has started five of seven games since Keibert Ruiz (groin) landed on the injured list, though he'll step out of the lineup for Sunday's contest. Adams should continue to see an edge in playing time behind the plate with Ruiz not expected back this season, but Israel Pineda will start in the series finale against the Marlins.
