  • Jose Godoy C | TEX

Pirates' Jose Godoy: Sent down to minors

Godoy was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Godoy logged just 20 at-bats in the majors this season, and only one of them resulted in a hit. He will now head to Indianapolis, where he has a .947 OPS over 42 plate appearances in 2022. To fill his roster spot, the Pirates recalled Tucupita Marcano in a corresponding move.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sitting during nightcap

Heim isn't in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

After being left off the starting lineup for Game 1, Heim will also begin Game 2 from the dugout. Sam Huff will get the starting nod behind home plate and bat sixth.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Day off Tuesday

Kirk is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Orioles.

Several of the Jays' regulars are getting Tuesday off, including Kirk. Gabriel Moreno is starting behind the dish.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Sitting out Tuesday

Realmuto isn't starting Tuesday against the Astros, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

After the Phillies secured a playoff berth Monday, Realmuto and several other regulars will get the day off Tuesday. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Sitting for matinee

Raleigh is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Curt Casali will start behind the dish and hit ninth. Look for Raleigh to get into the lineup for the nightcap.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Still out Tuesday

Perez (thumb) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Guardians.

He has been out for a few days due to a minor thumb injury. Perez's last chance to get back in a game this season will be Wednesday.

  • Rene Pinto C | PHI

Rays' Rene Pinto: Serving as backup catcher

Pinto was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times

With Francisco Mejia getting placed on the paternity list, Pinto will serve as the Rays' backup catcher over the final two games of the season. Pinto is hitting .211 with two home runs in 79 plate appearances this season.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Lands on paternity list

Mejia was placed on the paternity list Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This ends Mejia's regular season. The switch-hitting backstop slashed .242/.264/.381 with six home runs, 32 runs and 31 RBI in 93 games. Rene Pinto was recalled to take Mejia's place on the roster.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Not in Game 1 lineup

Trevino will be on the bench for the afternoon portion of Tuesday's doubleheader against Texas.

Unsurprisingly, the Yankees won't ask their starting backstop to crouch behind the plate for 18 innings in one day. Kyle Higashioka will be the starting catcher in the afternoon game, but Trevino will likely return for the nightcap.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sits for afternoon game

Heim will be on the bench for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Heim has struggled to a .156/.194/.250 line since the start of September, though he'd presumably be on the bench for one of Tuesday's two games regardless of his recent performance. Kevin Plawecki will start behind the plate in the afternoon game, but Heim will likely return for the nightcap.
