Jose Trevino C | CIN
Yankees' Jose Trevino: Not in Game 1 lineup
Trevino will be on the bench for the afternoon portion of Tuesday's doubleheader against Texas.
Unsurprisingly, the Yankees won't ask their starting backstop to crouch behind the plate for 18 innings in one day. Kyle Higashioka will be the starting catcher in the afternoon game, but Trevino will likely return for the nightcap.
-
Jonah Heim C | ATH
Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sits for afternoon game
Heim will be on the bench for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
Heim has struggled to a .156/.194/.250 line since the start of September, though he'd presumably be on the bench for one of Tuesday's two games regardless of his recent performance. Kevin Plawecki will start behind the plate in the afternoon game, but Heim will likely return for the nightcap.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Getting Tuesday off
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Monday's 2-1 loss to the Rockies that Smith will be out of the lineup for Tuesday's game, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Austin Barnes will get the nod behind the plate while Smith gets some rest ahead of the postseason. Smith had started in 10 of the Dodgers' last 11 games, batting .279 with five extra-base hits, six runs and four RBI.

Eric Haase C | CHW
Tigers' Eric Haase: Takes seat Monday
Haase isn't starting Monday against the Mariners.
After recording four hits over the last two games, including two home runs, Haase will get a breather Monday. Instead, Tucker Barnhart will serve as Detroit's backstop and bat eighth.
-
Curt Casali C | ATL
Mariners' Curt Casali: Activated by Mariners
Casali was reinstated from the paternity list Monday.
Casali was away from the Mariners for their weekend series against the Athletics following the birth of his child, but he'll rejoin the active roster prior to the three-game series against the Tigers to close out the regular season. Brian O'Keefe was sent down to make room for Casali on the active roster.

Austin Nola C | COL
Padres' Austin Nola: Out of Monday's lineup
Nola isn't starting Monday against the Giants.
After going 1-for-11 with an RBI in the last series against the White Sox, Nola will get a day off Monday. In his place, Luis Campusano will start behind the plate and bat seventh.
-
Sean Murphy C | ATL
Athletics' Sean Murphy: Returns to lineup Monday
Murphy (illness) is starting Monday against the Angels.
Murphy sat out Sunday's series finale against the Mariners due to an illness, but he'll serve as the designated hitter and bat third a day later. Over his last four games, he's gone 0-for-11 with two walks and four strikeouts.
-
Ryan Jeffers C | MIN
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Heads to bench Monday
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.
Gary Sanchez will get a turn behind the plate while Jeffers rests after he started at catcher in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Tigers. Since coming off the injured list last week, Jeffers has gone 3-for-15 with a triple, a walk, two RBI and two runs in his first five games back in action.
-
Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Sits down Monday
Narvaez isn't starting Monday's game against Arizona.
Narvaez -- and his .576 OPS against left-handed pitchers -- will take a seat Monday with Tommy Henry starting for the D-backs. Victor Caratini will start behind the dish instead and bat eighth.
-
Yasmani Grandal C | PIT
White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Not starting Monday
Grandal isn't in the lineup Monday against the Twins.
Grandal's playing time has decreased recently, and he'll be on the bench for the third time in the last four games. Carlos Perez is starting behind the plate and batting ninth.
