McGeuire is out of the lineup for Saturday's game at Detroit, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

McGuire is 4-for-13 to begin the season and will continue splitting time behind the plate with Connor Wong. With Wong starting Saturday, each catcher has started four games this season.

Rogers is starting at catcher and batting ninth in Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Rogers takes over as the backstop with Eric Haase getting the day off. The former already has two home runs in just 12 at-bats this season, so it makes sense that the Tigers are looking to get his bat in the lineup more frequently. Moving forward, Haase can also play in left field, so Rogers may be able to secure more regular playing time at catcher if he keeps hitting well.

Haase is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Haase started the past four games -- two at catcher, two in left field -- and will receive a breather Saturday after starting the year 3-for-23 with eight strikeouts. Jake Rogers has clubbed two early home runs and will take over behind the plate.

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

The 21-year-old was officially called up by the Mets on Friday but hasn't received a start in his first two games with the big club. Alvarez could work behind the plate Sunday with Tomas Nido working back-to-back days, and it should only be a matter of time before the top prospect is seeing regular action between catcher and designated hitter.

Langeliers went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run in a loss to the Rays on Friday.

The young backstop unleashed a monstrous 440-foot shot to left field in the seventh inning for his first homer of the season. After opening the campaign hitless over his first seven plate appearances, Langeliers has hit safely in four straight games, going 6-for-16 with Friday's homer and walk and three total runs.

Delay went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Friday against the White Sox.

Delay drew his third start of the season and hit ninth, though that didn't stop him from having a productive performance. He tallied his first multi-hit effort of the campaign, which was highlighted by an RBI knock in the fifth frame. So long as Austin Hedges (concussion) is sidelined, Delay figures to split time behind the dish with Tyler Heineman. Through 13 at-bats, Delay has delivered five hits with a home run, a double, two RBI and four runs scored.

Bethancourt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored Friday against the Athletics.

Bethancourt took Ken Waldichuk yard in the third inning to tally both his first hit and home run of the campaign. He's alternated starts with Francisco Mejia behind the plate to begin the season, though neither player has produced early on to separate themselves in the competition for playing time. Overall, Bethancourt has gone 1-for-12 with four strikeouts and two walks across four games.

Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Perez has actually been one of the Royals' most consistent hitters so far, batting .259 (7-for-27) across seven games. His homer Friday came in the eighth inning to give the Royals a bit more breathing room. Three of the catcher's seven hits have gone for extra bases (one homer, two doubles), but he has just one RBI and two runs scored, as the lineup around him has struggled with run production.

Perez left Friday's game against Kansas City with a right shoulder strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

While the severity of Perez's injury and how long he might be sidelined remain unknown, it seems as though the backstop avoided what could have been a much worse fate. Blake Sabol will assume primary catching duties while Perez and Joey Bart (back) work their way back from injuries.

Perez left Friday's game against the Royals after throwing to second base in an attempt to catch Kyle Isbel stealing, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Perez immediately headed for the dugout after making the throw, seemingly in quite a bit of pain. The Giants will take a look at him and should provide an update relatively soon. If he's forced to remain out for an extended period of time, Blake Sabol would become the only active catcher on San Francisco's roster. Joey Bart (back) is set to begin a rehab assignment soon, but depending on the severity of Perez's injury, his return could be accelerated.
