Sabol went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Mets.

Sabol got the Giants on the board with his fifth-inning solo shot. Both of his homers have come in his last three games. The 25-year-old is playing primarily against right-handed pitchers, but his .190/.244/.405 slash line through 45 plate appearances isn't all that inspiring. He's added three homers, five RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base.

Fermin was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

With Franmil Reyes landing on the paternity list Friday, Fermin will join the major-league roster in Reyes' place. The 27-year-old backstop is slashing .293/.408/.561 in Omaha but likely won't see much playing time behind Salvador Perez and MJ Melendez while in the majors.

Rortvedt (shoulder) is set to start his rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Friday.

Rortvedt was forced to undergo surgery in February to address an aneurysm in his left shoulder, and he's missed the beginning of the season as a result. The catcher will now commence what will likely be a prolonged rehab assignment before he could potentially join the Yankees' major-league roster down the line. Rortvedt last appeared in the big leagues in 2021, producing a .169 batting average with three homers, seven RBI and eight runs scored over 89 at-bats in 39 games with the Twins as a rookie. Neither Jose Trevino nor Kyle Higashioka have been impressive at the plate in 2023, so Rortvedt is worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses.

O'Hoppe (shoulder) will be evaluated in the next couple of days after exiting Thursday's matchup against the Yankees, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

O'Hoppe exited the game after an awkward swing in the ninth inning. He spoke to reporters after the contest but was unsure of any specific details regarding the nature of his injury or how much additional game action he may be forced to miss.

O'Hoppe was pulled from Thursday's game against the Yankees after appearing to injure his left shoulder, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

O'Hoppe immediately grabbed at his upper left arm after getting spun around on a pitch in the top of the ninth inning. He managed to make contact for a single and scampered to first base before jogging off the field with a look of deep frustration. The 23-year-old catcher finished 3-for-4 with two RBI on the day and boasts an .886 OPS through 59 plate appearances this season with the Angels.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that he doesn't expect Smith (concussion) to return during the weekend series against the Cubs, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The initial plan was for Smith to return to the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Cubs, but it now seems that he will have to wait a bit longer. Roberts added that Smith is improving but gave no more details on when the 28-year-old backstop might play again.

Alvarez is not in the lineup Thursday night against the Giants.

Tomas Nido will catch and bat ninth with left-hander Sean Manaea on the mound for San Francisco. Alvarez has started just five of a possible 13 games since his promotion from Triple-A Syracuse on April 7.

Gomes isn't starting Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes will get a second consecutive day of rest Thursday after going 3-for-12 with two RBI in his last three games. Tucker Barnhart will take over behind the dish and bat ninth.

Ruiz went 3-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

The catcher accounted for half of the Nationals' six hits on the night, with none of his teammates collecting more than one. Ruiz has seen a heavy workload so far, starting 16 of Washington's 18 games, and while he's produced a respectable .262/.328/.361 slash line, he's managed only one homer, two runs and five RBI due in large part to the anemic lineup around him.

Heim went 3-for-4 with a walk, a three-run home run and two additional runs scored in Wednesday's 12-3 win over the Royals.

Heim delivered the finishing blows to Kansas City with a three-run blast in the ninth inning that travelled 429 feet. It was the third homer of the season for the catcher, who has a .941 OPS and has knocked in 11 runs through 13 games. With Mitch Garver's knee injury expected to keep him out through the beginning of May, Heim becomes the primary catcher, with Sandy Leon backing him up. Heim has started eight of the last 10 games.
