Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Knocks in three runs in loss
Smith went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and two walks in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Smith helped the Dodgers get off to a fast start with a two-run home run in the first inning. He added another RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the fourth, but the backstop's production wasn't enough to prevent his team from getting swept in the season series. The good news for Smith is that he appears to be getting his swing back; since gong 0-for-13 during a four-game hitless streak from Aug. 4 to Aug. 10, the All-Star catcher has gone 3-for-8 with two walks across his subsequent three games.

Hunter Goodman RF | COL
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Delivers winning homer
Goodman went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Goodman began the game on the bench but pinch hit in the ninth inning with the Rockies down by one. He delivered his 24th home run of the season to put Colorado up for good, and he now has seven home runs across 20 games since the All-Star break. Goodman is in the midst of a breakout campaign, as he now owns a .251 ISO and .362 wOBA across 427 plate appearances.

Miguel Amaya C | CHC
Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Headed back to IL
Manager Craig Counsell said after Wednesday's win over Toronto that Amaya was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Amaya needed to be carted off the field after stepping awkwardly on first base in the eighth inning. X-rays came back negative after the incident, but Counsell confirmed that the catcher's sprained ankle will be enough to force him back on the injured list just two days after returning from a significant oblique injury. Carson Kelly and Reese McGuire will likely resume splitting reps behind the plate while Amaya is out.

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Carted off field
Amaya was removed from Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a leg injury, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Amaya landed awkwardly on first base while legging out an infield single in the eighth inning and had to leave the game on a cart. The 26-year-old backstop was playing in his first game since returning from an oblique injury that sidelined him for nearly three months, and although the Cubs have yet to determine the severity of his latest injury, he's likely destined to spend more time on the IL.

William Contreras C | MIL
Brewers' William Contreras: Drives in four against Bucs
Contreras went 2-for-3 with two walks and four RBI in Wednesday's 12-5 win over the Pirates.
Both knocks were singles but Contreras did plenty of damage with them, driving in runs in the fourth and sixth innings before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. The star backstop has at least one RBI in five straight games and multi-hit performances in four straight, and over 24 contests since the All-Star break, he's batting .323 (31-for-96) with five doubles, six homers, 19 runs and 22 RBI.

Hunter Goodman RF | COL
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Day off Wednesday
Goodman is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
With a day game after a night game, Goodman will sit after he went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday night's win. Braxton Fulford will catch for Austin Gomber and bat eighth.

Jose Trevino C | CIN
Reds' Jose Trevino: Productive in Tuesday's win
Trevino went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Phillies.
The veteran catcher kicked off a two-run rally in the third inning with a one-out single, coming home on a Spencer Steer two-bagger, and Trevino then played a key role in a three-run sixth that broke the game open. He continues to split time with Tyler Stephenson behind the plate, and through five starts in August, Trevino is batting .263 (5-for-19) with a double, two RBI and three runs.

Dalton Rushing C | LAD
Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: Hits second homer
Rushing went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Angels.
Rushing had gone just 3-for-30 (.100) with no extra-base hits and 11 strikeouts over his previous 12 games. Despite the struggles at the plate, he continues to get semi-regular playing time as the backup to Will Smith. Rushing is slashing .202/.269/.298 with two homers, 15 RBI, 11 runs scored and three doubles over his first 34 major-league games.

Hunter Goodman RF | COL
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Pops 23rd homer
Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Cardinals.
Goodman popped his 23rd home run of the season in the fourth inning. That snapped what had been a cold start to the Rockies' road trip, as Goodman entered Tuesday's game having gone just 2-for-16 across his last four games. While four of Goodman's six home runs since the All-Star break have come at home, he has performed equally well on the road overall this season.

Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Season-best showing in rout
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 13-5 win over Atlanta.
It was the first multi-homer game of the season for Alvarez, who matched a season high in hits and set a season high in RBI in the process. After being demoted to the minor leagues for about a month of action, the slugging backstop seems to have discovered a rhythm at the dish. Alvarez is slashing .304/.418/.630 with eight extra-base hits and eight RBI covering his last 55 plate appearances (16 games), so he's worth considering in deeper fantasy leagues and two-catcher formats.
