  • Curt Casali C | ATL

Giants' Curt Casali: Moves to injured list

Casali (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 33-year-old suffered a right oblique injury Monday, and he's expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain, per Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News. Joey Bart has joined the taxi squad and should soon join the active roster, but for now Yermin Mercedes will serve as the Giants' backup catcher to Austin Wynns.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Takes seat again Tuesday

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Narvaez will be on the bench for the second game in a row, but his absence looks to be mostly a byproduct of manager Craig Counsell wanting to reward Victor Caratini with a turn behind the plate after Caratini smacked a walkoff three-run home run in Monday's win. Before sitting out Monday, Narvaez had gone 6-for-20 with a home run, three doubles and four walks over his last six starts.

  • Cardinals' Andrew Knizner: Sits in second straight game

Knizner is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

Though he appeared to have returned to the No. 1 spot on the depth chart after Ivan Herrera was recently optioned to Triple-A Memphis, and while Yadier Molina (knee) remains on the injured list, Knizner will end up sitting for the second game in a row. New call-up Austin Romine will make another turn behind the plate as the Cardinals look to see if he can provide an upgrade over Knizner, who has produced a .523 OPS over his 145 plate appearances on the season.

  • Reds' Mark Kolozsvary: Returns to minors

Kolozsvary was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Kolozsvary was brought up Monday with fellow backstop Aramis Garcia slowed by a finger injury, but Garcia -- despite also picking up an elbow injury -- is apparently feeling better, as Kolozsvary will head back to Louisville just one day later.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Not starting Tuesday

Contreras (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Contreras exited Monday's loss with left hamstring tightness, and it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. With Conteras out for at least one game, Yan Gomes will catch Tuesday while Rafael Ortega serves as the Cubs' designated hitter.

  • Jason Delay C | BOS

Pirates' Jason Delay: Elevated from taxi squad

The Pirates activated Delay from the taxi squad Tuesday.

Delay will serve as the backup catcher while Tyler Heineman (paternity) is unavailable. The 27-year-old went 0-for-2 with a walk in his only big-league game so far this season.

  • Pirates' Tyler Heineman: On paternity leave

The Pirates placed Heineman on the paternity list Tuesday.

Heineman will be away from the team for one to three games while on paternity leave. Jason Delay was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to give the Pirates another catcher behind Michael Perez while Heineman is out.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Not starting Tuesday

D'Arnaud is on the bench Tuesday versus St. Louis.

This marks d'Arnaud's second omission from Atlanta's lineup in the last four games despite having hit .292 with a home run, four doubles and four RBI in his last 10. William Contreras is catching and batting seventh Tuesday.

  • Chris Okey C | LAD

Reds' Chris Okey: DFA'd on Tuesday

The Reds designated Okey for assignment Tuesday.

The depth catcher went 2-for-12 with the Reds in June and doesn't figure to draw much interest on waivers, so chances are he'll remain with Triple-A Louisville.

  • Brewers' Victor Caratini: Blasts walkoff home run

Caratini went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Monday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Caratini took Scott Effross deep for a three-run shot in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat the Cubs. On the flip side, he struck out in his other four at-bats. The 28-year-old is up to seven homers this season with six of those coming in his last 20 appearances. Caratini is now slashing .245/.368/.464 with 17 RBI and 10 extra-base hits through 133 plate appearances.
