Giants catcher Hector Sanchez has been added to the roster of Triple-A Fresno, where he will continue his rehab assignment, the San Jose Mercury News reports. He is rehabbing from a right shoulder strain that sent him into the disabled list in early July.

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is arguably having his best month of the season, batting .349 (15 for 43) with two home runs, three doubles and seven RBI in 13 July games (11 starts). He's certainly benefited from playing regularly with Ryan Hanigan on the disabled list.

Unfortunately, Mesoraco's time as a stopgap Fantasy option is running out. Hanigan is due back Thursday, which means the duo will return to a timeshare situation, with Hanigan catching three times during a turn through the rotation.

Mesoraco continues to have more upside than Hanigan, but as long as Hanigan remains a strong defender, then manager Dusty Baker will continue to keep him in the lineup.

Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud collected a hit during his first rehab game.

The catcher was able to play the field for five innings. He finished the game 1 for 3 before he was pulled. It marked d'Arnaud's first game since mid April. He's recovering from a foot fracture.

The catcher got the start behind the plate for the Mets' Gulf Coast League. He's been out since mid April with a broken foot. Entering the season, d'Arnaud was considered the team's top prospect. 

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco picked up three hits against the Giants during game one Tuesday.

Mesoraco hit two singles and a home run, going 3 for 4 in the contest. He scored one run and drove in three. Mesoraco didn't start game two, but came in to replace Corky Miller. He went hitless in two at-bats.

Mesoraco is hitting .258/.326/.405 in 190 at-bats. 

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson reaffirmed Monday the team is hopeful catcher prospect Travis d'Arnaud will make an appearance in the majors in September. d'Arnaud, who has been sidelined since mid-April with a broken foot, was cleared to resume playing in games Monday.

"We need to see him play for a while," Alderson said, per the New York Post. "We only have 2 1/2 months left of the season. Hopefully he stays healthy ... and we get to see him a little bit here in September."

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was a big-time contributor during Monday's 11-0 win at San Francisco. Mesoraco tallied three hits, including one double and one home run, drove in two runs and scored twice in the win.

Mesoraco is having one of his best months of the season in July. He is batting .324 (12 for 37) with one home run, three doubles, three runs, four RBI and four walks in 11 games (10 starts).

A team source said Mets catcher prospect Travis d'Arnaud (foot) has been cleared to begin playing in minor-league games later this week, per ESPN. d'Arnaud received the clearance after a medical exam in New York Monday.

d'Arnaud, who has been sidelined since mid-April with a broken foot, will run the bases Tuesday and Wednesday before playing in a game Thursday. He will start out playing for Class A St. Lucie before returning to the PCL.

d'Arnaud is expected to be a September call-up, per ESPN.
