Barnhart was reinstated from the paternity list Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Barnhart has missed three games since landing on the paternity list Thursday, all of which were started by Stuart Turner. With Barnhart back to primary catching duties, Turner will return to the backup role. Barnhart isn't in Sunday's lineup, however, as he will instead rejoin the team in Cincinnati, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Sanchez started the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader with the Dodgers, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-2 win.

Sanchez was one of several Padres backups who gained an extra start due to Saturday's twin billing. The 27-year-old backstop has been primarily used as a pinch hitter this season, but he gains daily fantasy appeal when he is in the lineup based on his eight home runs in 121 plate appearances.

Hedges is not in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

He will rest his legs after catching the first game of the twin bill, as is standard for backstops. Luis Torrens will step in to catch for starter Jordan Lyles.

Grandal is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Padres, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Grandal heads to the bench after starting seven of the past eight games behind the plate. Austin Barnes draws the assignment for Saturday's afternoon contest.

Murphy was recalled by the Rockies on Friday.

Murphy joins the wave of September call-ups for Colorado, and returns to the team ahead of this weekend's series with the Diamondbacks. During eight appearances with the Rockies this season, Murphy went 1-for-20 at the plate. He figures to slide in as the third catcher on the depth chart behind Jonathan Lucroy and Tony Wolters.

Rosario was recalled to the majors prior to Friday's game against the Giants, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports.

Rosario hasn't played any games at the big-league level this season, following 20 appearances with the Cardinals in 2016. During 50 games with Triple-A Memphis this year, he's slashed .247/.291/.279 with 23 RBI. Rosario will provide depth at the catcher's position behind Yadier Molina and Carson Kelly.

Contreras (hamstring) was out doing baserunning drills prior to Friday's game against the Braves, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports.

Contreras was able to run from first to home, and went through the progression of rounding the bases and stopping, as he tested his strained right hamstring. This marks another key step for the 25-year-old, as he continues to ramp up his activity heading into the final month of the regular season.

Sanchez was promoted to the big leagues prior to Friday's game against the Cubs, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

After coming to the Braves on Thursday in exchange for Brandon Phillips, Sanchez will make the trek to the Windy City to serve as added depth behind the plate for his new team. The 29-year-old hasn't played in a major-league game since 2015, when he was a member of the Pirates, but he was hitting .272 with four home runs and 40 RBI during 70 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this season.

Caratini was called up by the Cubs on Friday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Caratini may not see much playing time moving forward, even with Willson Contreras (hamstring) shelved for the time being. Alex Avila will likely get most of the starts in Contreras' absence while Caratini battles with Rene Rivera for an occasional nod. Throughout 17 games with the club this season, the 24-year-old Caratini is hitting .268/.318/.415 with one home run and two RBI.

Sanchez was traded to the Braves on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

He was the other piece in the deal that sent Brandon Phillips to the Angels. Sanchez, who joined the Angels this offseason, slashed a respectable .272/.355/.374 over 243 at-bats at Triple-A Salt Lake this year. He'll add organizational depth behind the plate for the Braves.
