Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Added to lineup
Rogers will start Monday against the Twins after John Hicks was scratched due to illness, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Rogers will get another chance to dig himself out of his very poor start to his big-league career. He's hit just .114/.231/.278 through his first 24 games, but the Tigers are very much playing for the future.

Austin Nola C | COL
Mariners' Austin Nola: Sits again Monday
Nola remains on the bench Monday against the Cubs.
Nola owns an awful .088/.179/.088 slash line over his last 10 games. Daniel Vogelbach again starts at first base.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Not in lineup
Rogers is not starting Monday against the Twins.
Rogers continues to find himself in the lineup on a fairly frequent basis despite going 2-for-43 with 24 strikeouts over his last 13 games. John Hicks starts behind the plate Monday.

Garrett Stubbs C | PHI
Astros' Garrett Stubbs: Joins big club as No. 3 catcher
The Astros recalled Stubbs from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of Monday's game against the Brewers, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
He'll join Houston as the club's No. 3 catcher, a role that likely won't afford him many regular starts in September. Instead, Stubbs will merely function as insurance behind veterans Robinson Chirinos and Martin Maldonado, the clear top two options on the depth chart.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Athletics' Sean Murphy: Formally called up
The Athletics selected Murphy's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.
Oakland designated infielder Corban Joseph for assignment in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Murphy, the organization's top catching prospect. Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that Murphy "will get a few starts at catcher here and there," which suggests the 24-year-old won't unseat Josh Phegley as the Athletics' primary option behind the plate.

Matt Thaiss C | BOS
Angels' Matt Thaiss: Playing time on decline
Thaiss is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Thaiss will be sitting due to a lefty (David Price) being on the bump for Boston, but the rookie doesn't look like he's a safe bet to play regularly versus righties anymore, either. He'll be on the bench for the fifth time in six games and looks to have effectively lost out to fellow infielder Luis Rengifo for a spot in Los Angeles' everyday lineup.
-
Austin Nola C | COL
Mariners' Austin Nola: Idle Sunday
Nola is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Nola will take a seat after going hitless in 15 at-bats while starting each of the past four games. With Nola on the bench, Daniel Vogelbach will occupy first base, opening up the designated-hitter spot for Omar Narvaez.
-
Michael Perez C | BAL
Rays' Michael Perez: Back in majors
Perez was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Perez's return gives the Rays three catchers -- Travis d'Arnaud and Mike Zunino being the other two -- and offers manager Kevin Cash a left-handed option at the position. While he's expected to see occasional starts versus righties, Toribio reports Perez is mainly expected to serve as a defensive option behind the pair of veterans he's backing up.
-
Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Resting in series finale
D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Indians.
D'Arnaud started each of the Rays' last three games behind the dish, going 5-for-13 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs. He'll just be getting some routine maintenance in the series finale while Mike Zunino checks in at catcher.

Roberto Perez C | BOS
Indians' Roberto Perez: Getting breather
Perez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Perez will give way to Kevin Plawecki behind the dish as the Tribe concludes its series in Tampa Bay with an afternoon game. Cleveland's top backstop ended August with a whimper, going 0-for-4 in Saturday's 9-6 loss to finish the month with a .139/.225/.278 slash line.
