  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Gearing up for return

Jansen (hamstring) has been catching side sessions this week and was spotted taking batting practice prior to Wednesday's game against Cleveland, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Jansen has been sidelined since July 21 with a right hamstring strain, but he appears to have resumed full baseball activities and could be ready to return from the 10-day injured list within the next week or two. The Blue Jays will likely send Jansen out on a minor-league rehab assignment before activating him.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Remains out of lineup

Kirk isn't starting Wednesday's game against Cleveland.

Kirk has recorded hits in each of his last three appearances, but he'll be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games. Reese McGuire will start behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Seby Zavala C | LAD

White Sox's Seby Zavala: Retreats to bench

Zavala isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Zavala will get a breather after he went 4-for-7 with three homers, seven RBI, six runs and three walks across the last three games. Zack Collins will start at catcher and bat ninth.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Day off Wednesday

Sanchez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Sanchez had drawn starts in each of the last five games, but he'll rest after he went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in Tuesday's blowout win. Kyle Higashioka will take over behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Raleigh isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Raleigh had started each of the last four games, and he went 1-for-16 with two RBI and four strikeouts. Tom Murphy will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: On bench Wednesday

Garver is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Garver, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-5 win, looks to be receiving some routine maintenance for the day game after a night game. Ryan Jeffers will catch for starting pitcher Charlie Barnes in the series finale in Cincinnati.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Mashes 12th homer

Garver went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Reds.

He took Tyler Mahle deep in the fifth inning, Garver's 12th homer of the season. The 30-year-old catcher has had trouble staying healthy this season but has been productive when in the lineup lately, slashing .296/.406/.815 with four home runs and 10 RBI over eight games since the All-Star break.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Athletics' Sean Murphy: Not starting Tuesday

Murphy is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

He sits for the second straight game with Oakland facing southpaw Blake Snell. Murphy has hit .190 against left-handed pitching this season, whereas Yan Gomes, who's starting Tuesday, has hit .364 in such matchups.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: On bench Tuesday

Kirk is not starting Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

Kirk went 1-for-4 with a double and three strikeouts Monday. In six games since rejoining the Blue Jays, he's gone 6-for-19 with two doubles, one walk and no RBI. Reese McGuire will catch and bat ninth Tuesday.

  • Blue Jays' Kellin Deglan: Dealt to Blue Jays

The Yankees traded Deglan to the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports. It's unclear what New York received in the deal.

The 29-year-old catcher hit .233/.281/.367 with a home run and three RBI in 12 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. With the Blue Jays, Deglan is unlikely to be viewed as anything more than organizational depth at his position.
