  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

    Yankees' Jose Trevino: Sitting Friday

Trevino is not in the starting lineup for Friday's matchup with the Cubs.

Trevino will take a seat after he went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Thursday's win over the Twins. Kyle Higashioka will take over behind the plate and bat eighth Friday.

  • Rene Pinto C | PHI

Rays' Rene Pinto: Recalled from Triple-A

Pinto was called up from Triple-A Durham on Friday.

He was recalled Friday to take the open roster spot of Mike Zunino (shoulder) who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Pinto has gone 3-for-15 with a homer and two RBI in five games with the Rays this season.

  • Athletics' Christian Bethancourt: Three hits, two RBI in loss

Bethancourt went 3-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's loss to the Guardians.

Bethancourt gave the Athletics an early lead with a two-run homer in the second inning. The catcher also came around to score in the sixth after sparking a rally with a two-out single. Across 38 games, Bethancourt is slashing .245/.292/.377 with two home runs and 12 RBI.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Not starting Thursday

Jeffers isn't starting Thursday against the Yankees.

Jeffers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Wednesday's win over the Yankees, and he'll be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games. Gary Sanchez will start behind the dish while Jose Miranda serves as the designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: On bench Thursday

Rutschman isn't starting Thursday against the Royals, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Rutschman is resting after he went 1-for-8 with a strikeout over the last two games. Robinson Chirinos will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Day off Thursday

Hedges isn't in the lineup Thursday against Oakland.

Hedges went 1-for-8 with an RBI and a strikeout over his last two games and will be out of the lineup Thursday for the fourth time in the last six matchups. Luke Maile will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Slugs seventh homer in win

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Raleigh uncorked his seventh long ball of the season at a particularly timely juncture, as his 386-foot blast to right center in the fourth inning with Abraham Toro aboard knotted the game at 3-3. The young backstop still carries an abysmal .167 average and .232 on-base percentage for the season, but he's now left the yard three times in his last six games while producing a .300/.333/.800 slash line in that sample of 21 plate appearances.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Athletics' Sean Murphy: Timely single in loss

Murphy went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to Atlanta on Wednesday.

Murphy's fourth-inning knock plated Stephen Vogt with what would turn out to be the second and final run of the night for Oakland. The struggling backstop, who'd snapped a brief four-game, 0-for-14 skid Tuesday, is still carrying just a .202/.276/.367 slash line with a 26.7 percent strikeout rate on the season.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Twins' Gary Sanchez: Avoids arbitration with Minnesota

Sanchez and the Twins agreed to a one-year, $9 million contract Thursday to avoid arbitration, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Sanchez made $6.35 million with the Yankees last year, and he'll get a fairly hefty pay raise during his first year with the Twins. The 29-year-old has received regular playing time over his first two months in Minnesota, and he's slashed .224/.282/.435 with seven home runs, 27 RBI, 16 runs and a stolen base over 44 games.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

Blue Jays' Zack Collins: Slugs fourth homer

Collins went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Royals.

Making his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Collins took Brady Singer deep in the third inning for his fourth homer in only 73 big-league plate appearances this season. The 27-year-old's .212/.288/.455 slash line is less impressive, however, and playing time could be hard for him to come by with top prospect Gabriel Moreno also set to join the Blue Jays this weekend -- assuming Collins isn't the player optioned back down to make room.
